A remarkable feature for GSuite subscribers is the ability to create Team Drives, while this drive can be shared to other Gmail accounts, it does not support moving folders into it. I was hoping this tool will be able to create copies of a folder inside a Team Drive.

Hello

I tried to copy a folder with almost 20.000 files on Google Drive, however the copy process stopped....so I resumed it using the Resume option and it correctly resumed....for like 10 minutes, then it stopped again.

Long story short:the resume feature works yes, but it keeps stopping over and over, for copying all the said files I had to resume the copy process roughly over 30 times.

While I think its surely better than nothing, a way to automatic resume an interrupted process would really makes this script perfect.

I'm wondering if I blocked something that is used used to install the app.
I tried using a different G Suite domain, and the app was installed just fine, no complaints.

Sadly, my error message is in Swedish. this little thing appears app the top of the browser window, and there is only an X-button for me to close it.

What could it be that I must allow, for the app to be allowed to be installed?
The Chrome extension itself I have allowed. Before that, I was immediately blocked from even trying to install.

When pasting the 'shared with me' folder link into the paste folder box sometimes it does not find the folder and just continues to spin. So far it has only happened with folders that have a substantial amount of data in them.
The alternative Select Folder option shows every folder in the drive which can be in the hundreds or thousands if the drive account is substantial.
Overall awesome project though. I have been searching for something like this for a while now. Thank you for creating it.

Love the concept of this script and it works really well. One thing I'd love to be able to do is set specific jobs up and put them on a schedule. Say if I'm going to backup x folder every week on Sunday I could set that up.

What is the current behavior? Copied subfolders have same permission as folder.

What is the expected behavior? My subfolders have different permissions than the folder they are in. Use to be when I copied the folder the subfolders permissions copied correctly. Now when I copy a folder the subfolders have the same permission as the folder they are in. For instance, the folder is shared as view only with 36 people, but inside the folder there is a spreadsheet that is shared with each one of those people individually so they all can't see each others spreadsheets. Now when I copy a folder I have to change permissions for all 36 spreadsheets to change the permission to individuals instead of everyone.

How would you reproduce the current behavior (if this is a bug)? Just copying the folder.

i tried copying a lot of files & subfolder by your copy a google drive folder apps but there are some errors so i can't copy them

when first trial, part of them copied successly and another them can't copied(and unfortunately i have no copy log i erased them). and then i tried sometimes, but now i can copied only subfolder except any files

i check that copy folder log, and there are some errors.

When I try to install Copy Folder or Transfer Ownership Apps I get a message about being unable to install the application because it conflicts with "Google Apps Script".

I was able to find this in my Extensions directory, in a file called:

.../eoieeedlomnegifmaghhjnghhmcldobl/1.5_0/manifest.json

This extension has a name of Google Apps Script and a description of "Create and edit scripts".

Maybe there is something you could tweak in your manifest to stop the conflict?

In any case the workaround of just using the "Visit Website" link from the store to kick off the application works fine, even if it is a little inconvenient.

Recently when I select "Copy Folder" it does not show any available files to copy from Gdrive. It does show me as logged in through my gmail account. "Logged in as sam@XXXXX"

Today the Copy Folder script stopped working completely.
I've made a quick research and seems like it's happening on many, many Google Scripts, and it may be related to API functions from Web App.

Anyway,there's a proposed solution posted in this thread:

I think this is a bug since it says the app copies everything in a folder.

It will copy the folder and the documents but if there's a subfolder it doesn't copy the contents of the subfolder.

Every time copying is paused because of Google quota limits, it doesn't automatically resume. I have to start it again from the app.

After fixing a small issue:

I can select a folder, etc, but when initiating the copy:

When the status of a file (in the copy log) is "Error, GoogleJsonResponseException: User rate limit exceeded," the file does not get copied.

Thanks for a great utility that has saved me lots of time and effort in managing my Google Drive!

Are you planning on adding any support for the new Google Team Drives? Currently the script can only access folders in your My Drive section and does not even display the Team Drives section, so folder structures there have to be created manually :(

Note the file to be copied is in the MY Drive Folder (added already).
The App is started / initiated from the APP Window in Chrome not in the Drive feature. (could not add it here). If this is the case, what would be the admin minimum requirements for the G Suite Admin to be enabled?! Less secure apps are currently enabled for all users!

GDrive now allows for copying with comments, and even suggestions:

It can be done though. Other Chrome extensions do exactly that (but don't deep copy like this script).

It would make this app 100x better if these features were available:

1. Ability to modify the prefix of the copied folders other than "Copy of"
   2 The ability to also add the custom prefix to all sub-files and folders.

The script is stuck in a loop, making copies of the same documents over and over again.

I've been trying to copy 2 folders recently, each one having over 1000 files, I tried to copy both folders separately, but for both of them it only copied exactly 460 files, not one more.

I double checked both folders to be sure and they both have above 1500 files each.

The copy folder log reports operation as "Complete" and no errors are reported.

Copy folder is locked to my private gmail account. When I try to change accounts to view my work google drive, it switches back to my private account.

Work google drive should be the default account.
You should be able to switch between different accounts.

1. Open/run Copy Folder
2. Check which account you are logged into "Logged in as ..."
3. Select "Click here" to log in with a different account
4. Follow instructions to switch accounts
5. Back on the Copy Folder screen, check which account you are logged into "Logged in as ..." and see that it is the original email address.
6. Click "Select Folder" to see which folders are available. See that the original account folders are shown.

With this script it is allowed to copy the TeamDrive folder to My Drive, but it has errors when copying many files.

I just started using the app today and successfully used it twice this morning, including one folder that was very large (over 2000 total files). However, when I try to start a new folder now, once I click "copy folder," it goes to a blank screen and doesn't start the copy (I checked my Drive to see if the new folder had been created and it was working in the background). I also tried using "Resume" to see if a previous copy was actually still in progress, but when I click "Resume copying," the same thing happens with the blank screen

I followed the steps and gave permissions, after sharing the folders but I get an error, do you have any updates or idea on how to fix this

When first accessing the application it says

The application "Copy Folder" needs authorization to run.

In the popup, in the top-right corner I select my second Google account, then click Allow. Unfortunately, the application keeps saying

If I select my first Google account, the error message disappears and I can start using the application. However, my first Google account is a personal one. I need to use the application with my work account.

Is there a workaround?

I added this as a Chrome extension on to my Vivaldi browser, and now, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to remove. It doesn't have options to delete like all my other extensions.

That's the major issue, but the issue that's driven me to want to do this is that the extension is causing all of my Google platforms to display in funky manners since installing. It's a drag.

I follow the instructions, making sure "Copy Sharing Permissions" is set to No. I proceed. When I go look at the copy, all of the sharing permissions are still the same. The whole reason I wanted this app was so I could bulk copy and remove all the sharing permissions.

What is the expected behavior?

That it would do as it has stated and NOT copy the sharing permissions when it is set to NO.
