In order for the LFE/Erlang undermidi to communicate fully with the Go midiserver a clear convention for MIDI messages needs to be established, codified via an API that creates the messages with the appropriate structure. Since these should be amenable to easy term encoding and decoding, the simpler the representation the better.

Tasks:

• Create a new midimsg module
• Add version functions
• Create an Erlang API in this module that has feature parity, call-for-call, with gomidi/midi/writer
• Examine the args and output / payload for each of those funcs and create parallel data structures in Erlang
• Update the Erlang API to send these data structures
  • the undermidi project will then need to term encode these and send them over the wire to a midiserver
  • the Go midiserver will then need to:
    • term-deocde these and then
    • pass them to the gomidi writer
• iterate on improvements required in testing the previous to sub-bullets
