Question: What are the current priorities of Ethereum's core development team and some of the challenges faced by the core ethereum development including how scalability, optimizations, security are ensured together?

Question: How does the research flow work within ethereum? I see so many active and inactive proposals at ethresear.ch, then there are independent academic, non-academic researchers and i guess core researchers too. How does the process of selecting an element for the ethereum roadmap looks like from the vast researches going on and how can an individual contribute there?

Question: How do you overcome the challenges of people working in different timezones?

To add a little bit of context. Even after meticulous sprint planning there is something or the other that requires a second set of eyes on it. When people are working under one roof or at least in the same timezone, it is easy to unblock such issues. But when colleagues are in different timezones it usually takes an entire day to unblock it.

Question: How viable is working on performance optimizations of the execution layer, since the consensus protocol only allows one block per 12-sec slot, and transaction count is bound by block gas limit?

So I was thinking about working on the performance optimizations in the execution layer and the EVM, but it seems to me that it won't have much affect as it is not possible to either decrease the block creation time (latency), or increase the transaction count in a block (throughput).

❓Is there an EIP that you think is close to ideal? Both in terms of clarity of language and the EIP spec / design itself.

Maybe a dumb question. but why are there so less projects and accepted fellows from previous ones(50% reduction from cohort 3,4) even tho we are at about 50% completion of ethereum?
