Ethereum Protocol Fellowship: Cohort 5

This repository is dedicated to coordination and resources for EPF cohort 5.

Learn more about EPF in Program details, cohort 5 town hall and fourth cohort recap.

Getting started

The EPF is a fully permissionless and open program. Anybody is welcome to participate. All resources and work being done can be found in this repository.

First, read the program guide and FAQ. To start with the program, use this repository, check the guide for participating and open a PR to add your development updates. Find more resources about the protocol in EPF.wiki.

Find ideas for projects and get inspiration in proposed project ideas.

Communication

The main communication channel with other participants, mentors and organizers is in R&D Discord. If you don't have access, contact the cohort organizers.

Calls

There will be two regular weekly calls throughout the program.

Standup calls

Standup calls provide an opportunity to share your weekly updates with other fellows. These calls serve to discuss progress of projects, current issues participants are facing, their open questions and comments raised in development updates. Standup calls are dedicated to participants and their discussion, some mentors might show up occasionally. Standups occur weekly every Monday, 15:00 UTC. Use this link to attend.

Office hours

In addition to the weekly standup calls, we hold Office Hours calls which can be focused on specific topics proposed in advance. Find the upcoming call agenda in Issues. Anybody can propose topics for this call by commenting on its tracking issue. Office Hours are regularly happening on every Tuesday, 15:00 UTC.

If you need any further assistance, contact cohort organizers @joshdavislight and @taxmeifyoucan.

cohort-five's Issues

Office Hours #3

Meeting info

This EPF5 Office Hours will host not just one, but two guests! We will be joined by former fellows Advaita Saha and Agnish Ghosh from Nimbus team. They will present the current work on Nimbus clients and opportunities for fellows to contribute. Both of them were part of EPF4 cohort working on libraries in Nimbus which later granted them positions in the team. They will also share their fellowship experience and advice for current fellows.

Agenda

Office Hours #8

Meeting info

This EPF5 Office Hours will be another special one with not just one, but two guests! We will be joined by former fellows Tomás Arjovsky and Martin Paulucci from LambdaClass Elixir client team. During EPF4, they started working on new consensus client written in Elixir from scratch! Today, they still continue their efforts even further with work on new execution client as well. Come to ask them about their experience and get inspired by their courage working on a brand new client.

Agenda

  • Prepare questions or post them to comments under the issue if you cannot attend

Office Hours #9

Meeting info

Note that this office hours is a different time than usual, 9AM UTC! It's 6 hours sooner than our regular call because of Jimmy's timezone. It's also an opportunity for fellows from similar time zones to finally join live.

Agenda

  • AMA by @jimmygchen
  • Prepare questions or post them to comments under the issue if you cannot attend

Merge Access

I was thinking about asking the organizers for merge access to be able to merge the PRs that don't need much supervision. but there was no clear instruction to where and how I should propose this request. So I thought I open an issue here.
This could possibly be an open issue for the length of the cohort, so anyone who wants to be granted merge access can request it here.
I also took it upon myself to create a general guideline for merging PRs.

Guidelines for merging a PR

  • The proposed updates should be related the EPF Cohort within the defined structures
  • The changes should not break formatting, or contain obvious oversights.
  • The links in the updates should be accessible to the public.
  • Proposed changes should not affect other fellows' data in a harmful way.
  • If in doubt about merging a PR, ask others inputs.

please feel free to propose changes.
