berlin_ethereum_meetup's Issues

Evaluate alternatives to Meetup/Twitter/YouTube

more a long term thing - but we should have it on the radar. Currently we heavily rely on these centralized services - but we should move away from it and at least provide alternatives. Especially meetup might become a problem as we are connected to most of the audience this way.

Proposed EthBerlin talk: Smart contract development with TokenSPICE & Brownie

Hello, I'm creating this proposed talk as a GitHub issue, as requested by Ligi.

  • Title: Smart contract development with TokenSPICE & Brownie

  • Description: This talk describes a Solidity development flow that includes EVM agent-based modeling to verify incentives and long-term behavior. The talk with will discuss how Eth-Brownie treats Solidity objects as Python objects, enabling more Python-based development flows. Then it describes how to use TokenSPICE to verify the code via time-domain simulations involving many interacting agents. The flow is illustrated with two real-world use cases. This is analog verification, which complements digital verification done by smart contract auditors and tools like HEVM.

  • Speaker / Bio: Trent McConaghy co-founded Ocean Protocol, building decentralized tools to level the playing field for AI and data. He has worked on AI since the mid 90s, Python since the early 2000s, and blockchain since 2013.

  • When: mid Feb 2022 or later. Exact date TBD

colony in a wider context

just met with Aron Fischer - he moved to Berlin and could give a talk on colony in the wider context

Preparing infrastructure for The Merge - Clients and Testnets

  • Title: Preparing infrastructure for The Merge - Clients and Testnets
  • Description: What's an execution layer client and what's a consensus layer client? How to prepare production infrastructure for The Merge? Which testnets should be used to prepare for future protocol upgrades and long-term support? Which not ๐Ÿ˜?
  • Speaker: Afri Schoedon, Protocol Engineering at ChainSafe Systems, Berlin
  • When: On a Berlin meetup before The Merge (if possible)

Create a script to postprocess videos

currently it is quite a manual process and the people that can do it are quite busy. But I think we can automate it with a script which consists of these 3 steps:

  1. replace camera audio with audio from microphones
  2. cut out sections and add metadata
  3. add intro / outro

I think 3 is trivial with ffmpeg. Replacing the audio track also - just sync would be the tricky thing here - also wondering if a clap would still be needed or if there are fancier ways already - the audio tracks from both sources with random input that is recorded anyway should be enough info to sync already. And IMHO the trickiest part will be to find the cutpoints for 2 - as far as I see there will be the need for a human in the loop - but we can reduce the amount of work for the human by reducing the possible start times to short sections by using a trigger from e.g. the camera operator to find the rough starting time.

Optional (after the MVP):

  • customize the intro outro as was done for older meetups (e.g. contain month/year) - but I think for the beginning static intros / outros are also OK - for the start IMHO a static intro/outro are good enough - we could take the intro here - just need to find a way to remove the date/year here.
