I just stumbled over your nice R package maddison! Since you asked to remind you of newer releases in the vignette's disclaimer: 2018 saw the release of a new version: https://www.rug.nl/ggdc/historicaldevelopment/maddison/releases/maddison-project-database-2018. It'd be super nice if you could update your package accordingly. 👍

This is not about the maddison package itself.

I recently had to predict missing values of GDP/capita for years 2018-19, based on values from the previous years. I used TPS/GAMs via mgcv, which was not very successful in my view, and then auto-ARIMAs via fable and tsibble, which was a bit more successful, again in my (very unexperienced) view.

I'm aware of the Solow growth model, as I am of smart ways to impute GDP.

May I ask, as an aside to the work on this package, if this (imputing/predicting missing GDP values) is something that you do, and how you do it?
