Cloning repo + adding to website doesn't seem to work

I'm not much of a web dev so I can't help too much, but just cloning it into my apache2 server doesn't seem to work. Are there some dependencies?

Tutorial on how to set up locally

Running this on Debian 8, node v. 6.2.2, npm v. 3.9.5. Starting the script with node yields an error, apparently with events.js. I'm guessing it's a node.js module? Here's the output that follows:
