Update Audio Metadata

Update Audio Metadata is a CLI app that can help you update the metadata of your music files. It can only update the metadata of MP3 files at the moment, but there are plans to support other music formats later. You can use it on a single music file or a directory containing music files.

Getting Started

This project uses Maven as its build tool. To get started, run the following command:

./mvnw clean package

Prerequisites

Make sure you have Java 17 or above installed on your machine.
This project uses ACRCloud for audio recognition. Since I can’t make my API token available to the public, you have to provide your own API token. You can get one from ACRCloud. Once you have your API token, you can set it in a .env file in the project root. There is a .env.example file in the project root that you can use as a template.

This will build the project and create a runnable JAR file in the target directory. You can run the JAR file using the following command (replace path/to/music/file with the path to your music file):

java -jar target\update-audio-metadata-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies.jar path/to/music/file

Linux/MacOS users can run the following command instead:

./update-playlist.sh path/to/music/file

Download

There is a binary release here. (Only for 64bit Linux systems at the moment). When using the binary, the environment variables should be set in your shell config file (for example, .bashrc) instead of .env file.

Usage

Usage: update-playlist [-hV] [-o=<outDir>] <inputPath>
Updates the music metadata
      <inputPath>         The directory containing the music files or a single
                            music file.
  -h, --help              Show this help message and exit.
  -o, --output=<outDir>   The output directory. Defaults to "./updated"
  -V, --version           Print version information and exit.
