build-emacs's Issues

Now all new binaries install to /usr/local/stow/emacs-<version>/bin

From a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 install, I cloned the build-emacs repo and ran the install script as follows:

clone https://github.com/favadi/build-emacs/blob/master/build-emacs.sh
cd to dir
chmod u+x build-emacs.sh
./build-emacs.sh
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/stow/emacs-<version>/bin

This installed emacs to /usr/local/stow/emacs-<version>.

The problem I'm having is now, new binaries I install are placed at /usr/local/stow/emacs-<version>/bin. I'm not sure why this is happening. Any insights?

Thanks

/usr/local/share/info/dir conflicts when running stow

While I can see the value in testing with travis against vanilla/fresh environments, I can also see that this is not the case under which folks would want to install emacs-via-stow. Are you expecting this script to be run only on fresh-installed systems?

Also, in the revisions of the above script, I don't see any changes since April. (?)

Uninstall

Hi Favadi,

Thanks for this awesome script. It worked perfectly for me. However, I'm having an issue getting .png's to display and some other things. In trying to fix my issues, I need to uninstall and rebuild Emacs. What's the best way to uninstall Emacs after using your script to build it? I tried searching for Emacs in synaptic package manager and stow is the first result. However, it doesn't look like Emacs is included in the installed files for this package Thank you and sorry to post an issue here - I didn't know how else to get in contact with you.

Packages libpng12-dev and libgnutls-dev are unavailable

I'm trying to install emacs25 on Ubuntu 16.10 and I'm getting this message when installing the packages:

Are there alternative packages that I can download or can I safely ignore them?
