com.microsoft.teams's Issues

Possible Wayland support?

Now that Electron 12 supports Wayland, would it be possible to build the Teams flatpak to use it?

Audio Issues since update manjaro-pulse (20210928-1 -> 20211001-1)

Hi,

since the update of manjaro-pulse I got some strange audio issues. Others can hear me but I cannot hear the other side on my headset. The headset itself works (e.g. listening to music) the issues only seem to be present in teams.
I can hear the teams ringtone on my headset but not the other person.
I haven't changed anything else except the upgrade manjaro-pulse (20210928-1 -> 20211001-1)
any ideas ?

cheers
Michael

Teams not detecting camera or microphone

OS: Linux Mint 20

Kernel version: Linux 5.4.0-54-generic x86_64

Teams version: 1.3.00.25560

Other relevant information: I have v4l2loopback-dkms installed through my package manager, and generating a loopback device that is designed for use with OBS Studio to stream into virtual classrooms. I have two webcams attached plus an additional microphone, all by USB. guvcview detects both of the real webcams plus the loopback device.

What happens: I load Teams and (much of the time) I don't see an option to place a video call, reason "No available camera found". If I go to device settings, Teams does not find anything audiovisual: no camera, no microphone, no speakers. It is therefore impossible to participate in any calls. Teams seems to be particularly bad at finding my AV equipment on a second or subsequent loading of Teams; the first time up it's more reliable.

What I have tried: As indicated above, sometimes restarting the machine appears to help, although this morning the first loading of Teams exhibited the problem. I am not typically loading Teams alongside anything else that is trying to access the webcams as I know that different pieces of software can block each other from webcam access.

I have also tried running Teams from the command line. There was no obvious error message that related to webcams etc, but I'm happy to try to run it with different parameters / debugging tools if given instruction on what to do, and report the output.

Teams cannot access my PIV card to login

Login fails. Reports an error trying to get my certificate, suggests I close window.

I have no other containerized apps which use my PIV card. I normally access Teams and office365 via the firefox browser on the host, which is configured to use the card reader.

Disconnect authentication provider

I've previously used Okta to connect to my company resources, however, I now intend to use the Teams flatpak on this particular laptop without Okta. Is there a possibility to reset the Flatpak to not always autostart the Okta login screen? Uninstalling and reinstalling the flatpak didn't work in this case. Many thanks!

Open teams meeting link on linux doesn't work

Trying to open a meeting link doesn't work like was told on that link:

To fix, just need to change de "exec" line of "tems" executable script

to:

Cannot inhibit screen blanking

In the flatpak Microsoft Teams cannot inhibit screen blanking, when in a video conference.
This is probably due to some dbus access which is not exposed.

Can we change manual the UserAgent Flatpak Teams?

Hello, everyone,
is it possible to change the user agent manually?

The reason for this is that some providers recognize the Linux teams as Android e.g. with the provider Vodafone

I could always change that for the browser because I switched the UserAgent to windows and then everything worked.

Is that also possible with Flatpak teams?

With friendly greetings

High CPU when sharing video

When I turn my camera off, the CPU returns to normal.

I'm running flatpak run -v com.microsoft.Teams --devel teams but nothing relevant is printed.

Downloading files doesn't work

(and the same is true for com.microsoft.Skype as well)

When I go to download a file from Teams (or when I try to download a file send to me in a chat), Teams pretends it downloaded it, it actually even show it in “Downloaded Files” folder inside of teams, but the file is nowhere to be found on whole drive (even when running find / -name <filename> as root).

It certainly isn’t in the ~/Downloads folder, where I would expect it to be.

Using stable package 1.3.00.30857 from flathub.

Something broken by #34, perhaps?

Network connection issue

Hi,
I'd like to report issue with MS Teams running in Flatpak. When I launch the Flatpak application the MS Teams GUI starts and asks for my email. After submitting I get this wierd screen with the error msg: "We couldn't connect to the Internet. Try checking your connection"

Therefore I ran the following where I can see that I can connect to the https://gooogle.com.

Any idea what to do to make it work?

$ flatpak run  --command=sh --devel com.microsoft.Teams

Note that the directories

'/var/lib/flatpak/exports/share'
'/home/cylon2p0/.local/share/flatpak/exports/share'

are not in the search path set by the XDG_DATA_DIRS environment variable, so
applications installed by Flatpak may not appear on your desktop until the
session is restarted.

Looking for a new maintainer

Hi everyone !

I'm not using Teams anymore for over a year now, and issues are stacking up since I can't try to reproduce them nor have the motivation to try to fix things frankly.

So I guess it's time to give the keys to another person (or more) who is (are) ready to take over the maintenance of this package.

Disable auto-signin?

Hi, I have this flatpak installed on a terminal machine and would like users to have to sign in everytime they open Teams after quitting. Would anyone know how to achieve this? Thanks!

Linux Mint 20.2 Teams sharing and cam broken

Hi!

Updated to the latest version of Kernel (Linux Mint 20.2; Cinnamon 5.0.5; Kernel 5.4.0-80-generic) and drivers recently and now Teams 1.4.00.13654 (64-bit) stopped working properly:

  • Screen sharing not possible (empty screen)
  • Shared Screens are not shown, just a blank screen with Icon of the sharing user stays on the screen
  • Webcam stopped working (Cam is identified as Full-HD, works with other apps properly), enabling it indicates properly that the cam is in use but the screen stays black. Changing configuration just lets the indicator blink for one time and shows a black screen as well
  • Any changes by re-installing packages from the last few updates or even going back with Timeshift, do not change any behavior

What could possibly solve this problem?

Thanks!

-Stefan

Teams is terminated sometimes

If I have the Teams window open in the background, the applications gets sometimes terminated.

This could be caused by the high memory usage of the flatpak application, but might also be a different problem.

What is the best way to extract logs from the flatpak installation for debugging?

ç doesn't work with English layout keyboard

Cedilla ("ç"), which is a graphical sign commonly used in Brazilian Portuguese is not working in Teams for Linux. Although the keyboard and language configurations are right and celilla works on every other application in Linux and Gnome.

This happens only when I use an external keyboard with english layout and keyboard configurations as English international, with dead keys, when I need to press accent + letter c in order to get the ç. When using ABNT2 keyboard, which has ç on it, everything works well.

I'm using Teams version 1.3.00.25560 (64 bits) under Manjaro.

Using the wrong time zone

Time stamps seem to be on US Pacific Time instead of the time zone set on my OS.

Workaround is to launch with something like flatpak run --env=TZ=Asia/Manila com.microsoft.Teams.

Screenshare not working because of SharingIndicator

I'm having an issue with screen-sharing, maybe someone has some ideas how to fix or at least debug this?

During a call, when I press on "share screen", no windows or screens are provided. However If i do it through chromium browser (also installed through flatpak) it works.
After some debugging I got to these errors in Teams Log:

warning -- sharing-indicator loading from 'slimcore/lib/sharing-indicator'
error -- cannot instantiate SharingIndicator
info -- createInstanceAsync: SlimCoreInstance settings {"enableLogging":true,"enableSlimCoreLogging":true,"enableSlimCoreVersionCompatibilityCheck":false,"tsCallingVersion":"2021.48.01.1"} ****

<2> -- info -- sharing Indicator is not enabled. Not setting up local screenshare.

I can't find any logs on what is exactly failing.

Crash when sharing screen when on Wayland

Hi!

Thanks for packaging this application, it's the main communication channel in our company.

I had to switch back to Xorg because sharing the screen when on Wayland is actually crashing the application (may not be the packaging fault though, but before opening a ticket to Microsoft, I wanted to ask here first).

Cheers!

Most (if not all) apps that have a tray icon use a monochromatic icon on the tray icon.

Would it be possible to use one here too?

Teams flatpak doesn't seem to use proxy.

I am unable to connect using the flatpak version when behind a corporate proxy. The non-flatpak version connects fine with the proxy configuration. If I remove the corporate proxy config the non-flatpak version fails to connect in what appears to be the same failure.

A proxy is configured in the gnome proxy settings and environment variables are set for http_proxy and the other usual variants.

Looking at Wireshark I see connection attempts to Microsoft azure servers that are clearly skipping the proxy and trying to connect directly.

This is on Fedora 32 though the same issue occurred with 31.

Crash when trying to share screen on wayland

The issue has also been reported here: electron/electron#23063

It looks like Electron needs to be built with RTC_USE_PIPEWIRE=true in order to fix this issue.

I don't know who is in charge of building Electron when using flatpak. Is it part of the flatpak environment or does it come with the app itself? In the later case, where should we open a new ticket? Maybe directly to Microsoft?

Thanks.

Doesn't launch properly anymore since today

Since today MS Teams doesn't launch properly anymore.

Screenshot_20201202_100546

This happens with and without the commits from yesterday (6bc2223) so I doubt it's related. It happens on 2 different PC's as well, although the same network.

Unable to share screen

The current Version always terminates during the selection process of the screen sharing.

Video output does not work

The Microsoft Teams app does not show any video here. The webcam preview (outside of calls and in a call) is black and other participants in a call are displayed as if they had their webcam turned off. Their screen shares are also not displayed: Teams changes the arrangement of tiles or even puts a till onto the full screen, but the tiles still show only the initials of the person -- as if they had their webcam turned off. Deactivating GPU video decoding in the app's settings does not help.

shared cannot viewed

I did join at an conference with 19 participants, but only me can not viewed the presentation shared for the speaker. Earlier I disabled video of VLC Player to listen to some musics of Youtube. I did try to reinstall the Teams, but the issue did still, then I clean the directory "home/.var/app/com.microsoft.Teams" and do reinstall again. Looks like it worked when I did test with two devices but I going to confirm if really work at next conference.

Notifications on Window managers

On tilling window managers notifications start as a new tiled window, instead of a floating notification on the bottom right side.
I use dunst as my notification manager, but Teams uses it's own system. If Teams is the only window, maximized, on the workspace and a new notification come up, the window gets resized to half width and the notification takes the other half of the screen. I think that it happens only when teams isn't the focused window.

Does not start when homedir is encrypted with fscrypt

Hi,

here is the problem:

$ flatpak run com.microsoft.Teams
Overriding TZ to Europe/Paris
[2 preload-host-spawn-strategy] Running: /app/bin/zypak-helper child - /app/extra/teams/teams --type=zygote --electron-shared-settings=eyJjci5jb21wYW55IjoiRWxlY3Ryb24iLCJjci5kdW1wcyI6IiIsImNyLmVuYWJsZWQiOmZhbHNlLCJjci5wcm9kdWN0IjoiRWxlY3Ryb24iLCJjci5zZXNzaW9uIjoiIiwiY3IudXJsIjoiIiwiY3IudmVyc2lvbiI6IiJ9
ldconfig: Can't create temporary cache file /run/ld-so-cache-dir/a485e4ccbd64628cfc712adeaa05ca7b691609e80c48c199c62b03af4b0ffd55.hihFxK~: Required key not available
error: ldconfig failed, exit status 256

The "Required key not available" error message leads me to think that the problem comes from the fact that my homedir is encrypted with fscrypt.

Can only upload when launched from the Terminal

I try to upload files that I move into my Downloads folder. All uploads fail. Then I close Teams and relaunch it via flatpak run com.microsoft.Teams and I can succesfully upload files from my Downloads folder.

If I launch Teams via Applications view (Super+A) or the launcher (Super+/), I cannot upload any files.

Can't share just one application

Hi!

The Windows version allows to share just one application instead of the entire screen, but it is not available when using Teams on Linux (tested with flatpak only). I wonder if that could be a problem with Flatpak rights maybe?

Thanks!

Expecting user to manually set DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS, why?

When I run Microsoft Teams, I get:

$ flatpak run -vvv com.microsoft.Teams
...
...
F: Running 'bwrap --args 37 teams'
Overriding TZ to UTC
[2 zypak-helper] Failed to connect to session bus: [org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported] Using X11 for dbus-daemon autolaunch was disabled at compile time, set your DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS instead
[2 zypak-helper] src/helper/main.cc:40(DetermineZygoteStrategy): Assertion failed: bus

Workaround is to manually find appropriate session ID: cat ~/.dbus/session-bus/<some-random-filename> which shows something like DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS='unix:abstract=/tmp..., then use it as:

$ flatpak run --env=DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS='unix:abstract=/tmp/dbus-LcsUc61GBB,guid=c1005d8
26f37b49af839644f60bc4df0' -vvv com.microsoft.Teams

it used to be an issue with other packages like spotify: flatpak/flatpak#2754 (comment), but they have since modernize their package in a way that manual introspection of dbus session is not required. I don't know the details how they have fixed it (https://github.com/flathub/com.spotify.Client/commits/master), but I have latest spotify and latest team flatpaks, in the same terminal, spotify works without the manual DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS while teams still requires it.

Unable to join meeting with link

Currently I'm unable to join a web meeting by a link from an outlook calendar entry.

Chrome redirects the link to xdg-open, but teams seems not to be associated with the link. Is there any fix possible?
