smooth-scroll's Introduction

Smooth scroll

A simple javascript smooth scrolling library for html anchors. This script is an adaptation of http://www.dezinerfolio.com/2007/08/08/df-javascript-smooth-scroll

  • Very light weight (Just 2KB minified, no need for jQuery)
  • Natural easing of scroll speed
  • Include script and it works (see Scroller.init() in the source file)

Changes:

  • Added element ids as possible target
  • Only used on elements that have an existing target

smooth-scroll's Issues

Scrolling to footer does not function as expected when footer is shorter than viewport height

This concerns scrolling to the last section on the page, in this case the orange section.

The example works when the height of the orange section is taller than the viewport. If the content in this section is shortened so that it is shorter than the viewport, the page will not smooth scroll to the orange section. Instead, clicking the 'GO TO FOOTER' link in the middle blue section will actual smooth scroll the page up so that the top of the blue section is at the top of the viewport.

link with umlauts

markdown-parser automatically generates IDs of a headline´s text,

problem if the headline contains umlauts ( äöüÄÖÜ )

markdown: ### Wurst und Käse

generated:

Wurst und Käse

the link: Wurst und Käse

hoovering the link displays it encoded in the status bar of the browser,
the link works fine, but not with smooth-scroll
