reputatorbot's Issues

When user reaches super user points threshold, send a PM

If a subreddit has super user point threshold, whenever a user gets awarded a point that finally meets that threshold, e.g. A user's 100th point, a DM is sent to the user automatically.

The message is to inform them of not only this milestone but they're ability to now award points.

Limit point awarding activity to certain posts only

On some subs, they may want to restrict points to certain threads (like those with specific flairs, or in specific megathreads).

Had a few requests over the years, and often it was just a case of using Automoderator to strip out any comment that contained the trigger word in any post other than the one specified by post ID.

A cleaner method would be to make this configurable.

A nice-to-have upgrade, not strictly required.

Threshold for Any Points users

A nuance of r/Excel.

While some subreddits use "Any user can award" option, I added a lower limit point threshold. On r/Excel, any user over 100 points can award points.

They would use the mod keyword to trigger a point. They would essentially be considered as automatic, unspecified, super users.

This means, super users are defined by either a list or a point threshold, and the sub would have to specify if they use the general keyword or the mod keyword.

On r/Excel, this would be any user over 100 points can use the mod keyword to award points as a super user.

I have opened another issue linked to this.

Configurable list of users with "super user" rights - users who can award points like a mod can

In a sub where only OP and mods can award points, there are times when there are great community members you want to extend rights to where they can award points to users, when OP has failed to award points. These are known as "super-users" - users who are not mods, but are trusted by mods to award points alongside the OP.

This is very useful in places like /r/excel where there is a small number of regular contributors who want to close a thread out and OP hasn't done it (and a mod hasnt either); it allows them to close the thread out and award the points as if they were a mod - but with no extra powers than a normal user.

There are currently two criterion for this:

Automatically after a certain points threshold (e.g. user has 100 points), or nominated by a moderator. Both of these are configurable options.

Add backup/restore option

It would be useful to be able to back up the scores DB to a wiki page (maybe even automatically), and allow it to be restored if you reinstall the app.

Allow points to be awarded without using flairs

E.g. Use Redis as the authoritative source, and if Redis doesn't have a flair for the user get the starting value from the flair. That allows the points system to be used without interfering with flairs.

Needs a new option to never set a flair, and just set Redis instead.

Take higher of Redis and Flair score, as long as flair score is not NaN in which case it should be disregarded.

Allow points awarding for submitters

User request:

The mod team is looking for ways to award our frequent helpful users in some ways. So far we have been manually compiling a list of "good bean" users in a spreadsheet when we notice they posted something particularly good but haven't really found a way to reward them in any way.

Then I saw your bot and thought "oh, what if we enabled that and let the good beans award users points for making good contributions to the community and then eventually when they hit a certain threshold we can award them good bean status too?"

I can see this mainly being a mod/superuser driven approach, but maybe users might be allowed to award points too.

Bot responding to "Solution Verified" from AutoModerator - but settings should've prevented this

r/Excel

Main command: Solution Verified

Mod command: +1 Point

Any user award: False

User: Automoderator (as a mod)

Automoderator managed to award a point (through a reminder prompt), even though the settings should've prevented it from happening i.e. not the OP, so the main command should not have worked, nor was Any User Award activated. Also did not use a the mod command.

AutoModerator not automatically excluded

/r/excel/comments/1bdr0n5/data_extract_has_dates_as_13032023_1251_in_one/kuo7ka0/

u/reputatorbot has awarded a point to OP from a comment by u/Automoderator

Automod should be universally excluded, along with itself.
