File::Version should not be a string but a (array of) integer about nix HOT 4 CLOSED

Can you elaborate: is the version info being returned not determined by HDF5?

In the current hdf5 implementation the version is stored as a string attribute of the hdf5 root group.

What gicmo suggests is to change the string into an int array eg. [<major>, <minor>] instead of "<major>.<minor>".

in general I have absolutely no objections against this, however I think this issue is rather unimportant and I would prefer to move it to the second alpha milestone.

ok understood - I would suggest Ill implement this a in free minute using "vector" instead of classical arrays (prolly thats what was meant anyways).
