Contributions are open to learners and mentors from any of the three tracks in the Google Africa Developer Scholarship program. If you choose to add your individual or team project(s) to the project gallery, please note that adding it here is NOT a submission to the GADS team. Make sure to submit your projects as instructed by the GADS team or your mentors, before coming to add your project here. ## General instructions for making a video tutorial
* Tutorial must be beginner friendly
* Use a laptop preferably, not phone
* Audio must be audible
* Do not introduce yourself in the video, instead go straight to the point e.g. start with "Here's how to edit the GADS project gallery doc..."
* Do not show your face, just screen record
* Upload video to YouTube
* Embed the YouTube video on the **video tutorials** page

## General instructions for adding projects
* Locate the folder for the year you want to submit for
* Project screenshot or image should have all sides equal 
* Each table row `<tr>` should not have more than 3 columns `<td>`

**Note:** Once it is reported that the link to your project is broken, it will be removed from the gallery. Use image with all sides equal. Do not adjust the width and size of the image in the `<td>` template below.

* Encourage ourselves and GADS learners in subsequent years by the projects we make.

This repo is an extension of the [GADS project gallery doc repo](https://github.com/gads-projects/doc). Past and present Google Africa Developer Scholarship learners and mentors are welcome to add their GADS projects to this repo. **Please note** that GADS team will not come to the gallery to check your project. Please submit your projects as instructed by the GADS team first, before you come here to add your projects. #### Learning phase and community projects
The GADS team usually introduce projects to work on towards the end of learning phase 1 and learning phase 2 respectively, based on the course content in the learning channels. Learners who make it to the project phase will be given another project to work on. These projects are very important to look out for and complete. The duration, deadlines and instructions on how to submit will be communicated to you when it is time for these projects. Projects given by the GADS team from learning phase 1 to the project phase are usually individual projects. The community project was introduced in 2020 and comes up sometime in between the project phase and the certification phase. For the community project, you can choose to make an individual project or choose to get assigned to a team. You can locate the file you want to edit in the [doc repo](https://github.com/gads-projects/doc) by manually searching for the file in the doc repo or via the edit on Github button on the [Gitbook doc](https://obiagba-mary.gitbook.io/gads-projects). Go to a particular page on the Gitbook doc, then click on the edit on Github button (or github icon in the case of smaller devices) to take you to the exact file to edit. Follow these steps to edit the file since you cannot directly make changes to the repo:

## Editing the project gallery doc 
On the Gitbook doc, click on the the edit on Github button at the top right corner of a page to take you directly to the page to edit on Github. 
* Fork the the GADS project gallery doc repo (if you haven't)
* From your fork, [create a new branch](https://docs.github.com/en/github/collaborating-with-pull-requests/proposing-changes-to-your-work-with-pull-requests/creating-and-deleting-branches-within-your-repository) and give it your preferred name
* Edit the page in your fork. Make sure you are in the new branch you created when editing
* [Send a pull request](https://docs.github.com/en/github/collaborating-with-pull-requests/proposing-changes-to-your-work-with-pull-requests/creating-a-pull-request-from-a-fork)

## Ways you can contribute to the project 
Once you have made a contribution, you will be added to the [GADS contributors](https://github.com/gads-projects/doc/blob/main/contributor.md). Here are ways you can contribute to the GADS project gallery doc project:
* Add your GADS projects to [the project gallery repo](https://github.com/gads-projects/gallery)
* Get assigned to issues or tasks present on [the issues page](https://github.com/gads-projects/doc/issues)
* Update outdated information in the GADS project gallery doc
* Suggest and/or add content, sections or page to the GADS project gallery doc
* Report and fix broken links, grammatical or typographical errors in any of the GADS project gallery doc

## Instructions for adding Individual projects
Whether you choose to use the link to the hosted project or the readme repo, we will check the readme of the projects's github repo. The readme of the project you are submitting should help anyone understand what you worked on, in what phase of the program you built it, if given by the GADS team or your PLG mentor. See some readme examples. Add your individual project(s) to the gallery using the format below:

## Team projects format
**Note:** Project screenshot or image should have all sides equal. Full names of mentors, team lead and members should be linked to their respective Github profile. In the case of teams, you don't have to be the one to fill all their names. You can create the table row, add your name and send team members to come fill it up themselves. It will be a way of helping them practice contributing to a Github organisation or repo that is not theirs generally. Also note that once it is reported that the link to your project is broken, it will be removed from the gallery.

**Note:** If you choose to add your projects to the project gallery, you will only be added as one of the [contributors to the project doc](https://github.com/gads-projects/doc/blob/main/contributor.md). The GADS team will not come to the gallery to check your project. Please submit your projects as instructed by the GADS team first, before you come here to add your projects. Reach out to any of the program assistants or mentors incase you have questions.

## Adding your project to the gallery 
Please note that the projects you add MUST be projects made during the GADS program. Projects can be submitted by learners or mentors, can be an individual project or team project and can be projects given by the GADS team or your peer learning group mentors. Feel free to add your projects to the gallery if your projects meet the above stated criteria: 
* Fork the [the project gallery repo](https://github.com/gads-projects/gallery) (if you haven't) 
* From your fork, [create a new branch](https://docs.github.com/en/github/collaborating-with-pull-requests/proposing-changes-to-your-work-with-pull-requests/creating-and-deleting-branches-within-your-repository) and give it your preferred name
* Edit the files and add your project in your fork following the instructions on the [gallery repo readme](https://github.com/gads-projects/gallery). Make sure you are in the new branch you created when editing
* [Send a pull request](https://docs.github.com/en/github/collaborating-with-pull-requests/proposing-changes-to-your-work-with-pull-requests/creating-a-pull-request-from-a-fork)

#### Peer Learning Group projects
Mentors assigned to your Peer Learning Group (PLG) may give tasks or projects related to the content on the learning channels, based on what they think will help you. The tasks can be given to test you, to help you improve on particular areas and to help solidify knowledge of the things learnt before the projects come from the GADS team. They are usually much simpler than projects given by the GADS team. The tasks vary for PLG groups as it is at the mentors discretion. Learners are encouraged to participate in whatever tasks or projects given by the mentors assigned to their Peer Learning Groups.

## Instructions for adding team projects
The readme of the project you are submitting should help anyone understand what your team worked on, in what phase of the program you built it and names of participating members. If you have a separate page for contributors (participating members) to the project instead, this is fine too. As with individual projects, we will check that your repo follows these guidelines. Add your team project(s) to the gallery using the format below:
