Issue Description
When attempting to open the "DropPoint" application on macOS, users encounter an error message stating that Apple cannot check the software for malicious content. Additionally, the message suggests that the software needs to be updated and advises users to contact the developer for more information.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Install the "DropPoint" application on a macOS device.
2. Attempt to open the application.
3. Observe the error message: "DropPoint can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information."

Expected behavior
Users should be able to open the "DropPoint" application without encountering this error message, and the software should function as intended.

Hi,

I asked Files to add a similar feature then I found your solution, I was thinking about something quite similar to this and I think it would be great if many know about this get involved to make it more robust, so I suggest you to think about joining their team or maybe MS PowerToys...

It would be amazing if you could autohide to the side of the screen feature or some similar way to remove it from view when it is not needed and get it back without having to click on systray icon or use keyboard...

Also having a way to create several buckets (naming and pinning them optionally) ...

Enhancing this with some sort of scripting (something like SnipDo aka Pantherbar) so rules can be customized by power-users to automate several tasks when the files are dropped on the bucket (auto-renaming, moving, comparing, deleting etc...)

Please change shortcut combination in Windows to open the program to Shift+Tab, as you implemented it for macOS. In system Shift+Tab performs the same function as simply Tab. Because it is very inconvenient to disable Caps Lock after each use.

I saw that you have plans to add the option of choosing a combination in the settings. But quite a lot of time has passed since that moment. Therefore, if it is not difficult for you, please consider my request.

I'm constantly having to move images from the browser or PDFs from my e-mail client around and it would be good if I had a faster way to do it.

I would like if DropPoint supported drag and drop from other applications other than Windows Explorer.

The only alternative is drag and drop directly from the browser but then I need the other application window visible (specially in Windows 11).

Hi, Maybe I have missed this, but it there one parameter to use to supress it from create an instance, so that I could create a shortcut into Startup folder.
Now I have to close the 1st instance manually as soon as it starts.

I am using macOS M1. DropPoint only copies the files. If I want to move my files I have to delete them by going back to the original location. This move feature would be a better tool than the current one.

Settings modal can be independent or just a modification of the existing DropPoint instance.

Things planned to be in the settings modal:

• Enable/disable Splash Screen
• Start Minimised
• Change Shortcut Keys
• Don't minimise after file transfer
• Click behaviour of tray icon (Single Click, Double Click)
• Switch between copy and move modes

Settings could be stored in a separate JSON file

Could you please support Homebrew on Mac?

The same applies to the launch of the program, it must be launched minimized. This is necessary to use it to run together with the autostart system. It is rather inconvenient to close the program window every time the system starts.

like Yoink please add an option to launch the app by shaking the mouse when dragged. or other shortcuts so that we can launch it quickly. Thanks for the great app. this is the only app that works with windows

Some users may not like the "Shift+CapsLock" shortcut.

Make it possible to register a different shotcut for instantiating a new window.
This can be done through the settings window

In addition, using it in linux with the CapsLock shortcut both starts a new instance and activates capslock, requiring users to hit capslock twice.

It would be nice if we can display the files/items as stack and select and open those files in normal way. Like openig pdf files into a pdf reader, auido/video to media player. Something similar to this video.

Describe the bug

Similar to Dragging and dropping across workspaces and apps, I tried to drag and drop files to a window in my external monitor. But I am having to drag the DropPoint window to the other monitor to have it visible there.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Connect to an external monitor
2. Open up DropPoint in either of the monitors
3. DropPoint window only shows up in One of them and has to be dragged to the other to drop something there.

Expected behavior

DropPoint window should appear across all monitors similar to appearing across desktops.

2. drag xx.pages to the DropPoint
3. the Icon on the DropPoint will not change. So there is no files to move out.

Summary:

The DropPoint Desktop Application incorrectly handles executable files. It uses an older version of Electron. It also does not place restrictions on in-app navigation.

Platform(s) Affected:

MacOS, Windows, Linux

Details:

1. [Executable Files] Dragging and dropping an executable file makes the window unusable. For example, say on MacOS, a user opens Finder, goes to “Applications”, and drags-and-drops the executable for the “Emacs” application. The window for the DropPoint application becomes unusable and the file cannot be copied over.

2. [Electron.js version] The framework recommends that updated versions of the framework be used to take advantage of secure defaults and security fixes. [Link] Additionally, the app uses insecure web preferences, which can be turned off by default when upgraded to a newer version of Electron.js.

3. [Navigation] It is also recommended that the application limit any attempts at navigating the app window to an arbitrary site if, say window.location is updated within the app window. While this is currently not exploitable, adding limitations can help improve the security of the application.

Once again, thank you for this amazing app.

It would be really helpful if once you open the Drop Point icon in the menu bar, you automatically open Drop Point instead of clicking it and then clicking open instance. That would be so useful!

Actually Relevant:
Cli output is normal until this, afterwards it obviously exits the program [7653:0906/163243.290352:FATAL:gpu_data_manager_impl_private.cc(415)] GPU process isn't usable. Goodbye. Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

Describe the bug
When opening Droppoint by any means a windows starts up, then immediatly closes, no taskbar icon or anything (program exits)

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
using Kubuntu 22.04 and any version of Droppoint (AppImage or deb), obviously with Plasma and not gnome

Expected behavior
Not crashing.

Additional context
There are two possible scenarios: One, Plasma is not Gnome and that creates some problem; Two, which should be more likely, the app is sandboxed and the gpu is not properly passed through (marktext/marktext#2675 different app same problem). However it is my understanding that .debs are not sandboxed but flatpaks (like the example) are; however neither work.

It seems that the folders can be copied to the DropPoint. But their icon seems to be wrong even if the number of folders will be shown there. No folders can be dragged out of the DropPoint.

3. Try to drag out the folder
4. No errors

Just like a file, folder can be dragged out of the DropPoint

Describe the bug
It seems that the DropPoint will not appear in the same screen in full screen mode.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
0. open finder with a new window

1. Click the left upper side green button to make the window full-screen mode
2. type shift-tab
3. screen will be changed to a new space and the DropPoint will appear there.
4. no way to use the original finder

Expected behavior
even if in the full screen mode, DropPoint should appear in the original full-screen window

Additional context
If this is done in an external display, the DropPoint will appear in the macbook main display, but it would be better to let it appear in the same windows. I guess this issue is the macOS spec and cannot avoid it. So better use it not in a full-screen mode.

In this on clicking the overview button the scrolling is not stopping on "What does DropPoint do?"
And also the section is kind of merging with the feature section
So we can improve the UI a bit

Yoink in the mac is so cool because you don't need to think about it until you need it. The app becomes visible only when you drag files. It would be great if this app can also be able to "create new instances" automatically when the user starts to drag files.

Add move mode for dropping files (instead of just copying files), that would be great if added :)

I installed the latest .deb package and it contained "tuxedo-control-center" and "tuxedo-keyboard" (kernel module).
These programs seem to be unrelated. Perhaps packed into the .deb by accident?

I don't want to assume malice, but I immediately thought of either malware or bloatware.

Dragging in is working fine.
When gone to the desired location and while trying to drag it out, the files get cleared.
