“For the nodes that don't have any other web-presence, NPT Startup could be more enhanced by adding: - More living home page (make the landing page more dynamic with pictures, videos, etc. accompanying the text)”
“1. The Home page could use some statistics.”
“There should be a clear home page showing pictures of relevant biodiversity within the country (such as animals)”
“Map of the GBIF country referred to the global map at the home page.”
“It might be useful to have a map of the country with all occurrences of all species, directly on the home page (maybe via a thumbnail).”
“Certainly, in terms of creating interest and excitement around GBIF and data- publishing, having some interesting information and some interesting graphics/visuals on the site will spark additional interest. The facts page and Encyclopedia of Life descriptions on species is a visual way of promoting biodiversity and data publication. I wonder if it would not be beneficial to also include a 'species of the week/month' picture box or scrolling banner with some local species to really highlight biodiversity in the region.”
“Layout really needs more attention - Too much text, not enough diagrams, schedules, figures, etc. All the info you need is there but it can be presented in a more easy consumable way”
“More can be done to make the home page more attractive. Also, it is useful to have some stats on the data available for the country, on the home page. This way, the person visiting has an idea of the number of primary data records that is available for a country, in GBIF.”
“There should be an option to portray GBIF in general”
“Greater presence of incentives/case studies on the website for the uptake of GBIF so that visitors to the site are immediately informed of the benefits of publishing their data through GBIF. These MUST be presented as visually and enticingly as possible. An initial hook. On the web, it’s all about the visuals/colors/graphics in terms of keeping people's interest.”
“The following things could be showed better: 1. the benefits of data sharing such as Capacity building, interoperability, standards and protocols understanding; 2. sample documents that help in managing the biodiversity facilities- MoUs.”
Channge address of the git submodules for the DwC-A library and the NPT INBio modules
from github.com/sufrostico to github.com/INBio
“I am not sure if question 9 refers to success that NPT has achieved until now or about its potential. I assumed the second because we do not have many installations so far. We were commenting that some labels can be a little bit confusing: species: This option shows information about every taxonomic rank. Maybe taxonomy would be a better label (of course, it sounds more technical...). Another thing is that "species" could be interpreted at first sight as "species records" or the kind of information that can be found in sites such as EOL. Specimens:"Occurrences" could be a better label because we suppose every kind of ‘Basis of Records’ are going to be included (e.g. observations).”
This affects "how to publish" block:

“Our National System of Biological Data may benefit from NPT, but it is not clear to us how much of its appearance can be shown as a national enterprise independent from GBIF (but with adequate credits to GBIF).”
“As said before, we should sort out how much of the Ministry of Science and of GBIF is seen in the appearance of the NPT.”
“Most likely the agricultural faculty that hosts the GBIF node should be acknowledged through a logo at the NPT Startup site Information on how to customize NPT would be useful; like creating links at specific places, adding logos, adding and deleting certain features, etc.”
“Improved ability to customize for institutional branding, customization, etc. to make NPT "mesh" well with existing institutional arrangements in each country (which can be quite complex....)”
Update the current submodules pointing to INBio's work to the current HEAD of the repositories.
“What about to guide local data publishers to insert the data into the national node? Or it should be first added to GBIF Network?”
“The link to "How to publish data through the GBIF Network" is good to have, but it might need to be customizable, if there are local preferences (for example centralized data hosting or data warehouse, from where data can be published to many networks).”
“Also, on the tab that indicates “How to publish data through the GBIF Network” page, this is not very clear, and the target audience for this is not entirely clear. Please consider the relevant functionalities that Participants will have in place, (which are using NPT) to facilitate publication.”
“Recommended skills and knowledge base that are required in the publishing and sharing of biodiversity data.”
“Continually improving process to publish or discuss how to publish data.”
The images from EOL in the banner area does not work, or in the front page does not work.
Return error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass::render() in /var/www/npt.inbio.ac.cr/sites/all/modules/custom/eolapi/eolapi.ajax.inc on line 18
Problem:
The module seems unable to found the view because $_POST['view-name'] comes empty.
by changing the variable from: $_POST['view-name'] to $_POST['viewName'] fixes the problem.
