Android app to collect information about buildings from direct observations. The information collected can be used to produce exposure models for seismic risk analysis via the OpenQuake engine and related tools.
I believe the zoom level for custom tiles is 17, not enough to correctly visualise HR images. Is it possible to have more zoom levels?
Also, it would be good to have a zoom to layer function when visualising custom maptiles.
We display a version string in the splash screen and must also provide a versionName in the Manifest.
Every time we release we are obliged to update both files - it would be preferable to only need to update one (Manifest, since we also need to update versionCode there)
README has link to old APK (rather than to google play)
add also links to IDCT page on GEM website
Build information should be updated when issue #13 has been resolved
Currently the android IDCT application forces the screen rotation in the portrait mode. This is annoying when the application is used with a device attached to a projector for demonstrations (and workshops), forcing the user to use a third party tool (like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.crape.rotationcontrol) to lock the screen rotation mode.
The application seems to work well also in the landscape mode (tested with the tool mentioned above).
It would be very useful to be able to use the tool in the native language of the user and to be able to select the language of choice for the user interface, while at the same time producing sql and csv files which are language neutral (except for free text notes).
It is important to note that currently, many of the displayed strings are stored in the SQLite database and not in the Java code or strings.xml files. We must extract these strings from the DB into I18N ready files and update the code to retrieve the translated string rather than using DB lookups. This is probably quite a large body of work.

Tool version: 1.0.1 (as of 10/12/12)
OS version: Android ICS
Hardware: Samsung Tab 2 7-inch 3g
Issue:
The tool can't get the GPS location if the data connection is turned off. The blinking icon on the status bar becomes solid after a few seconds, but the tool cannot show the position on the map. If a data connection is active, everything works smoothly.
I've verified that the GPS is working with another app that shows the details about the fix and satellites.
Device settings:
Access to my location: on
GPS satellites: enabled
Wifi & mobile network location: enabled
Problem:
-GPS is turned on but no GPS location updates occur. GPS icon on status bar (top left) remains dark, not flashing (indicating searching for a position) nor is it filled in (indicating a fix has been found). Switching WiFi on and connecting to a network doesn't prompt GPS to retrieve updates. Wifi provides a network provider position once started but still no GPS position.
Note: Google Maps exhibits the same issue indicating Android/hardware bug.
