For anyone who is having trouble compiling in VS Code using LaTeX Workshop, here is how I solved the issue:
uncheck the following:
"Latex-workshop › Latex › Build: Force Recipe Usage"
in extension settings.
Then add:
% !TeX program = xelatex
to the top of the file. This will override the default and use xelatex.
You could also change the recipe in the settings.json, but I found this solution to be much more simple.
Good luck in the interview!
A problem was brought to my attention that the header bar (dark grey in the example) might not get rendered correctly in TeXmaker. In one instance, the header bar was missing completely although the rest of document compiled just fine.
On Overleaf, it works just fine but with the local installation (MacTeX 2019 and TeXmaker 3.0.1) I couldn't even get an output.
The root problem are most likely incompatible or outdated LaTeX installations and packages.
The document seems to compile correctly but no text is shown.
Note that XeTeX uses system fonts, so check if the required fonts are installed on your system. The template uses Carlito by default.
The font can be changed by setting \setmainfont{Carlito}
in the main file resume.tex
.
Not a big issue but for me the example image picture.jpg could not be rendered correctly.
Eye of GNOME 3.36.3 (Ubuntu default image viewer) gives the error message:
Error reading JPEG file (Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x0a 0x0a)
The problem persists when viewing the resume.pdf with Evince 3.36.10, Libre Office Draw 7.3 and Inkscape 0.92.5.
This causes the pdf to be displayed without the image in the top right.
Weirdly enough Firefox and Chromium were able to display the pdf correctly.
It took me a while to figure out that the issue was with the picture.jpg itself and not with my pdf viewers or the LaTex environment I used.
Hope this saves someone some time.
I fixed my issue by converting the with Gimp.
You may consider to swap out the example picture.jpg with the converted file:
Hi When I add a couple of experiences or education. The whole page moves to the 2nd page, including the side bar. The first page only shows the header.
How can I change the layout so the page breaks in the middle of the main bar is not affecting the highlight bar?
This repository has no license, which implies that it cannot be used without a special permission. Yet, it's listed as CC-BY 4.0 in overfeal.
Could you resolve the inconsistency by adding a CC-BY 4.0 license file to this repository?
I am trying to move the photo so it is centered between the header text and the right-edge of the page. Any ideas?
Hi, thanks for this super nice template!
I would like to to put a rectangular foto with full header height in the top right corner. (no grey margins around it) is that possible? thanks!
Thank you for this decent template. I need to remove the photo from it, and give its space to the text. How is that possible?
I am having issues compiling this on my local machine. It claims that FontAwesome is not installed, although the package is definitely there. Originally, I also had an issue with Carlito, but installing that font solved the issue. I do not have any issues in Overleaf. Any ideas?
Changing the layout to "singlesided" and leaving the highlightbar empty, the text of the mainbar is not aligned correctly. To create the picture below, I just downloaded the repository and changed "doublesided" to "singlesided".
XeTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-0.999993 (MiKTeX 21.3) (preloaded format=xelatex 2021.5.12)
I do not know if I did not have a good xelatex version, but line 339 of my-resume.cls, command \Ifthispageodd
is "undefined" when I use xelatex. I just wrote the first character in lower case like \ifthispageodd
and it worked for me. It could be a suggestion in order to improve this really nice cv resume template.
Hi there,
Thank you for an interesting template!
I have been experimenting with right-aligning the positions in \job
, but somehow the text is pushed way too far to the right. I have tried both \raggedleft
and \hfill
to the same effect.
Any ideas? Many thanks!
