capslocknodelay's Issues

The plugin now requires Accessibility permission to work

Description of the Issue

Along with the "Open at Login" and "Input Monitoring", Apple is now asking for Accessibility permission for the plugin to work, which isn't explained in the "Usage" section of the repository README.

This option is located at Privacy & Security > Accessibility.

Debug Information

MacOS Ventura 13.5 (22G74)
CapsLockNoDelay 1.0.8

Ventura 13.0.1 thinks this is malware

Just downloaded latest, 1.0.8, and it is still seen as malware:

BTW: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU FOR THIS APP!!! The Caps lock delay has been the bane of my existence since I started using macs.

Works! Requires some setup

Hey. First thank you for this. Much appreciated!

I had to manually add the app to not only the Accessibility but also Input monitoring. Running on Big Sur.

It might not be obvious for some users they need to do that. There was no pop up for permissions. And also the obvious Shift Right Click and open to avoid Gatekeeper check on the first run.

Doesn't work on Monterey 12.5.1

MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021)
Chip: Apple M1 Pro
System: MacOS Monterey 12.5.1

Unfortunately the delay has not disappeared.

Can't run app

Was super happy to find someone made this app, but unfortunately it doesn't work for me...
M1 Macbook Pro on MacOS 11.5, I tried both downloading and compiling myself.

After moving the .app into the /Applications directory, and trying multiple times to open the app, I can't see it in the "Security & Privacy" settings, and not in Activity Monitor.

Any idea what could be the issue? let me know if there's any way I can help find it

Can open the app after build

I have compiled the app with xcode 10.3 under osx 10.14.5, but got an error when running the application "LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /path/to/the/compiled/app".

M1 Support

Does it work on M1 ARM Macs?

Thanks for your work btw

Malware alert

Getting this message, executable was downloaded from here.

“CapsLockNoDelay” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Bin.

Keyboard layout switching

I'm using CapsLock for switching keyboard layout.

With CapsLockNoDelay it switches the layout AND switches the capitalization both.

But, switching the capitalization is not expected in this case.

Installation helper

It would be nice to have a mini installation wizard that will check to see if the application is running from /Applications, if not, it would prompt the user to move it there automatically;
Then it would check to see if the app has accessibility permissions, and prompt the user to allow them;
Lastly it will add the app to the user's login item automatically.

Any help with these would be appreciated.

A bit strange that the input method can't work

After I installed it for some minutes, I found that caps lock can trigger IME switching (the icon in top-right corner is changed to Chinese Pinyin), but I can't use Chinese Pinyin because the Pinyin candidate window does not appear. Do I need to provide some log to locate the problem?

Anyway, thanks for this essential tool.

Is this working for Big Sur 11.3?

I followed the instructions and copied the file to /applications. It's showing up in my applications.

I looked under Accessibility and Input Monitoring under Security & Privacy and the app isn't listed there.

Am I doing something wrong or is it broken for 11.3?

Erratic behaviour when using Caps Lock for input source change

Hello,

I am using caps lock to change typing language (input source) and the lag is driving me crazy so I ended up here. I tried using this app and now I think lag is gone but when hitting caps lock I get both language change and caps lock turning on. Is there maybe something that can be done to use this app while using caps lock to change languages?

Does not work when caps lock is binded to something else.

My caps lock is binded to the control key, while my control key is binded to the caps lock key.
This program assumes that the caps lock key is the control key, thus making the usage of this program useless for people who don't use the default position of the caps lock key.

cannot open application

My Mac identifies the app as malware and cannot let me open it even after I override the malware warning.

Accessibility permissions

Hello,

The application still does not work on Ventura 13.0.1. At startup, it is requested that the Accessibility permissions be set. However, when this is the case, there is always the message. I tried a dozen times, in vain.

The plugin is being blocked from opening by Apple

Description of the Issue

The plugin is now being blocked by Apple with the message "CapsLockNoDelay can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software" when you try to open the application file.

I could get past that following some of the tips detailed here but I remember that this wasn't happening before.

Is there anything to do, or it's just the result of the signing method?
