Display Elevation Profiles for Routes

A method for displaying the elevation profile of routes, probably also segments
thereof should be included. The data is available for UK routes, need to
investigate whether google can also provide.

Alpha 1020 - IOError blocking UI on navigate

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Disable network
2. Enter text into navigate boxes

Exception thrown by geocoder in GeoFilter should (and does) display IOerror
dialogue, dialogue should be dismissable and result in a still usable app.
Dialog cannot be dismissed, UI blocks.

Route planning failure due to network or service

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. enter from & to address, press go
2. network or service currently unavailable message
3. A number of retries will eventually work.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Not sure if it's flaky data connection or Google's service,
maybe some automatic retries (5 times or up to 15 seconds?) by the app?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

latest from market as of 7 oct, Droid 2 / android 2.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Absolutely anticipating this app becoming THE premier bike satnav.

Text of directions is too faint to read

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select"directions"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect legible text; see instead very faint grey text. Visibility of text on
screen is marginal under bright conditions, grey text is utterly undecipherable.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Alpha 1037 on android 2.2

Please provide any additional information below.
I'm an old fart with flaky vision, so have more trouble deciphering things than
most (younger) people. However, I see no reason why developers should choose
anything but black on white (or reverse) when the intention is that everyone
should be able to read it. Offering variable font size would also be a nice
option.

Turn by Turn Navigation Crashes

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start turn by turn navigation
2. At some seemingly random point through the route (my route was a 40 mile
trip) an error icon is shown on the android top bar to say the navigation has
crashed
3. Route has to be re-created from when you are and turn by turn navigation
re-started.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Error message on top bar saying navigation has crashed

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Android 2.3, latest version as of 12/6/2011 but can't find version on about
screen in app

Please provide any additional information below.

  • Merged into: #15

Start/End of journey screen improvements

> What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Restart the application (have it crash, close, whatever...)

> What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The app requires you to re-enter the destination, which is hugely annoying if
you are cycling.
The input box also has a very annoying auto complete box that works differently
to every other Android box i've ever seen - if you click in it the background
"Start Address" does not disappear which makes it appear that you have not
selected the right place.
What would be really cool is to leave "Start Address" as a default of "Current
location" or similar.

> What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest market release on Android 2.3.3 (Samsung Galaxy S 2)

> Please provide any additional information below.
Excellent app, huge potential.

Journey Planner Defaults to Driving Directions with US Landmarks

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Plan a route from Battery Park to Grand Central Terminal

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is cycling directions, however the address object returned for
Grand Central Terminal has no country code causing the planner to revert to
driving mode.
