The suggested order for completing this project with students is:

  1. Create a folder for the project.
  2. Open a text editor.
  3. Create index.html. Explain that index.html is the main page for a website.
  4. Add <html>, <head>, and <body> tags, briefly explaining the purpose of each.
  5. Add "Hello World!" title.
  6. Add body text, "Welcome to my website!"
  7. Add an image using an <img> tag.
  8. Load the page in a browser and show that it works.
