As part of environment bootstrap, it is often needed to clone git repos and download files. Support for this in the spec could look like:

Play with managing Windows dotfiles with dot.

It might come in handy to support templates in this case. For example, in my gpg-agent.conf I want to set different values for pinentry-program for different operating systems and it does not seem to be supported by gpg-agent itself.

What would I use? Go templates https://pkg.go.dev/text/template? 🤔

Post-install checks: check for required programs, symlinks, etc.
For example, in a fresh environment, check if vim, tmux, zsh are installed.
