This repo is intended to give a list of beginner friendly tools for people to feel comfortable at their first mini-hackathon (the ones we host in freeCodeCampIndy) or any other hackathon.
Please feel free to make a PR or raise an issue to make this better. :)
You will probably want to draw rough wireframes/mockups before you begin writing any code. Here are some free tools you can use:
- Pencil - this one is a desktop application and has lots of useful features for mockups
- Google Drawings - this options will let you collaborate in real time with your team
- Google Photos - you can do basic edits like cropping, rotating, and adding filters
Figuring out how to share and edit code together is usually the hardest part of any hackathon. Don't get hung up here. You can use Git if you know it, but if you don't there are many other options, including just sending files back and forth to each other on Dropbox or Google Drive.
- Glitch - This will allow your whole team to work together on a website or app. Very cool!
- Codeshare - this is an online tool that allow multiple people to be working on the same file
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- Github/Git
- Locally - this is totally acceptable for a mini-hackathon
- Github Pages
