As a configuration item for the print.
Consider logging printing sessions to a file, to make it a bit easier to remember what all was done in the darkroom. Date, time, anything else useful.
Just what it says.
Make it so a user defined open ended note of text can be added to the BasePrint.
Same as a test print, with base duration, base minus 1 stop, base plus 2/3 stop.
Should be able to dodge without hitting enter between steps. Basically, the base duration would all be continuous with some signal to the user (maybe a bell) to delineate dodge step boundaries.
Seconds is already there. Add stops as an option. Seconds = 2^stops. Be able to adjust base exposure in seconds or stops.
Consider making a ‘Paper’ object, pre configured with information from the Printer. Can be used to switch papers but get the same outcome (at least close). See Paper Sensitivity ISO and Paper Range ISO. Also, could shift exposure so highlights tones are held constant as grade is changed (see no compensation myth at https://www.35mmc.com/20/04/2020/cat-and-mouse-with-exposure-and-contrast-darkroom-technique-part-3-by-sroyon-mukherjee/)
Once split grade test strips are made, make it so a MultiStepPrint (actually a tuple of prints) can be created from one step in the test strip.
This Ilford way of creating a starting point for split grade prints assumes that the speed of the paper at 4 grade and higher is half what it is before grade 4. In this situation the time for a proper 2.5 grade test is split in half. New versions of Ilford paper have about equal sensitive across the contrast range (see https://www.ilfordphoto.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/MULTIGRADE-RC-Papers-J20.pdf and https://www.ilfordphoto.com/amfile/file/download/file/1748/product/735/ ). As such, the proper way is low_grade ~= 2.5 grade duration / 2, and high_grade ~= 2.5 grade duration / 4 * lowgrade_iso/high_grade_iso (i think there is no log required here). Put this in the paper and use it for making the split grade basis exposure.
Make localized contrast grade test strip. Probably always user defined sequence of grades.
Auto turn off focus after defined amount of time (to protect the enlarger bulb).
These are burns on burns.
For example an 8 second base, then a 1 stop burn is 8 additional seconds. If an area of that burn needs an additional 1 stop of burn, that would be an additional 16 seconds for that burn.
Just the ability to persist and load prints between sessions.
Consider the ability to save more than one print to a single file, to support for example multi-grade prints pre-combining and after combining.
Also consider JSON as the save format, to make it so they are user editable/readable files.
Be able to update base duration of MultiStepTest print by stops, not just duration.
Be able to make a print from an other print step, but included a user defined steps offset for the base.
Ability to lay down a base exposure for split grade test strips. Make work for both normal and localized test strips.
You can't dodge at a different grade, but burning at a different grade is common for VC papers. Add this capability. Each burn step can be different grade.
