fusion360voronoi's Issues

Voronoi cells intersection issues

This plugin creates a Voronoi like effect, but wrong with regard to the Voronoi concept.
In a Voronoi segmented space, cells never interact because cells are not independently created, it is rather the intersection line that creates the cells segmentation, then a morphology operation can homogeneously thickens the edges. So the edges will in any case have similar thickness overall.
What this plugin does is some kind of random points generation (maybe Vornoi is used at firs step), then the issue is that cells are created independently from one another, and it is only the scale as a trick that avoids intersections, but with 100% that are lots of intersections, which is not the Voronoi concept.
This plugin is nevertheless valuable and unique in terms of Fusion360 integrations, and Vornoi algorithms libraries are available, raising this issue has the scope to improve it and open its usage to a wider designers looking for detailed real Voronoi effect. That would also make it simpler to use for normal users and not having to tweak percentage to get random sides thickness.

No dialog box

Installed script as readme describes, when I try to run I get nothing - just the swirl icon in the Scripts and Add-Ins dialog.

Can't select generated sketch elements for extrusion

About 40% of the plugin's generated shapes are generated not closed so you can't select them for extrusion. This is only an issue with the curved shapes. Just randomly checked the shapes with straight lines and circles work fine.

The screenshots show which ones can be selected. (The white areas can not.)

Running the sketch checker plugin doesn't do much. It finds problems but its unclear where.

The problematic sketch is "sketch18" in this model: https://a360.co/3NDrJTe

Retroactively edit a Voronoi pattern

I'd love to be able to go back and edit a Voronoi pattern. Integration into the feature timeline would be great, so that I could go back and change the number of cells or space between cells in the pattern without having to make a whole new pattern and delete the old one.

[Feature Request] Seamless pattern on cylindric shapes.

I would like to express my appreciation for the effort put into this plugin. As a suggestion, I would propose the inclusion of a feature that enables the user to seamlessly apply a Voronoi pattern to a cylindrical shape, eliminating any visible seams at the start and end points of the 2D Sketch.

Example of the seam I'd like to avoid:

Request: Min and Max Cell Distance, Min and Max Cell Area, Refresh

Hi.
First of all I would like to congratulate you for this beautiful plugin.
If possible I would like to make some requests.

Cell distance: I would like to be able to set the minimum and maximum cell distance. In this way we can avoid too much dishomogeneous distances. The relaxation tends to make the cells too homogeneous both in shape and size.

Minimum and maximum area of cells: it would be nice to be able to set them in such a way as to avoid cells too small or large.

Refresh: it would be nice to have the possibility to recalculate shapes and positions in a random way so you can have more proposals.

thanks in advance

.manifest file missing?

Hello Hans,

I am trying to get your plugin to work. but I am receiving the following error when trying to add the script to "My Scripts" when I press the + button
fusion 360 add-in

I have been looking around the web to get this to work, and came across a topic that said that there should be a .manifest file added to the folder to get it to work? Any ideas if this is correct?

Thanks,
Duros

Various feature requests / bugs

I generally like the plugin and appreciate the developer's efforts to create this in their spare time!

However, I'd love to see some improvements:

Bug: Pattern is not inserted within selected sketch profile but on a random plane.

Enhancement: Make it fill the voids for non-rectangular shapes

Feature: define exact "wall thickness"

Feature: have it avoid certain angles (i.e. horizontal cell borders) so it can be printed upright on a 3d printer

Cells look 'blocky'

I used a previous version of this script many years ago. It produced results where the cells looked more curved and less 'blocky' - they looked like jellybeans. It was really nice!

Recently re-installed this script and the result is much different. It doesn't have the same look.

Is there any way to get similar results to the previous version? If Cell Style: Curved could have a slider option for the amount of curve - maybe then it could be adjusted to look like the original?

Thanks very much in advance for any help
