QGIS Plugin to calculate the climb along a line
License: GNU General Public License v2.0
Hi,
I already installed Climb along line plugin on QGIS 3.6 in a Linux Mint 19. Once I open the plugin window and I set the parameters, click on «Run» button doesn't have any effect (not even an error message).
Otherwise, If I run the command from the batch processing, it works correctly:
Processing algorithm 1/1…
Algorithm Climb along line starting…
Input parameters:
{'BANDDEM': 1,
'DEMFORZ': 'mde_stjulia',
'INPUT': 'Updated',
'OUTPUT': <QgsProcessingOutputLayerDefinition {'sink':/home/lluis/climbingUpdated.gpkg, 'createOptions': {}}>}
Adding Z values from DEM...
Results: {'OUTPUT': 'output_96f9171c_5d37_49ed_9d54_4b7cbde5d8ba'}
Z values added.
Algorithm Climb along line correctly executed…

Thanks!
The plugin specifies "qgis" as provider, and that hides all other QGIS Python algorithms.
I´m using CLIMB with GPX Files (Hiking, Skimountaineering) from GPS Hardware , and the results I get are far to high. I think this is caused by the high number of points with elevation plus/minus deviations. If all this points are used for calculation without filtering calculation delivers to high results. Possible to integrate smooting / filtering algorithm?
Kind regards!
Jo
PS: Maybe there is another way to "smooth" raw data, but I´m a noob with QGIS, sorry!
It seems like i am getting a value of 0 (zero) as a minumum elevation when the line crosses an area in the DEM with NODATA values. I am using the Dutch Height model (AHN), wich contains NODATA values. Can the NODATA values be skipped?
Cheers, Leon
Hi @havatv I really really think that this plugin should go in core, of course if you agree.
Framework is easy, smooth and works super nice. What do you think about it?
Request from a user:
I just used your climb plugin to calculate the vertical rise on a ski lift. It worked well and seems to be more accurate than the ski resorts web site stats for the lift. I confirmed the data on Google Earth as well.
I was wondering if you could add min and max output so I know the elevation of the top and bottom of the lift?
Hi Håvard,
I've just installed your plugin into QGIS 3.6 (qgis_version.txt) onto a Linux Mint 19 Tara, and after the installation process I can't see it, and it is not visible in the processing toolbox. By the way, no error message appears. Then, when I try to uninstall or reinstall the plugin, it appears the following message (reinstall_plugin_error.txt).
thanks!
best regards,
Lluís
