ctagger's Issues

Errors importing tsv file

Quote from user:
"I am importing using the 'Import BIDS event spreadsheet' option, and I am using the attached .txt for testing it. I am only tagging the 'event_name' column.

The first problem is that when I select a new level for that categorical field, I lose what I have written (e.g. if I type a HED string for 'sham_start', select 'illusion_start', and select again 'sham_start', the text box is cleared). I have tried using "Validate string" and "Validate all" before moving to the next level, but it still clears what I have written. This problem seems to be generated only in the "Import BIDS event spreadsheet" option, as the "Import BIDS event dictionary" option works perfectly.

The second problem is that when I click 'Finish' to create the .json file (using the load .tsv option), it creates an empty .json. It is also empty if I click 'File > Review all tags', after validating the string. This also happens in the non-categorical fields that only have HED as a level, the .json is also created empty. I tried to check if the same happens when loading the .json (attached) rather than the .tsv, but I get some errors from a user point of view (my fault, I think). When I click "Validate string" it says it is okay, but when I press "Validate all" I get the following error:
-"ERROR: A data-recording’s Def tag cannot be matched to definition. Tag: 'Def-expand/Vibration-nonillusory' Problem spans string indexes: 2, 34"

I tried defining all levels of the field, and also replacing Def-extended with Def only, but it still shows the same error."

events.tsv and .json files used: sub-13_ses-01_task-fps_run-01_events.zip

How can I install and use this software?

I wanted to get started with tagging one of my datasets and based on the recent HED 3G whitepaper (https://osf.io/5fg73/), I searched for CTagger to help me with tagging (e.g., tag suggestions, maybe inbuilt validation of tags)

Based on the advertisement in the whitepaper (p 8 therein), I was expecting to find installation instructions for a standalone version (no Matlab or EEGLAB):

A user-friendly GUI, CTagger (community tagger), initially developed for HED (1G) (Rognon et al. 2013), was further enhanced for HED (2G). CTagger is platform independent and can be run as a standalone application or as a plug-in for EEGLAB (Delorme and Makeig 2004).

counter intuitively, there is some information in a repo that rather seems to supply some " Java tools for CTagger interface" (citing the repo description): https://github.com/hed-standard/hed-java

My questions are:

  • what are all ways that I can install this software
  • is it currently only for HED 1G and 2G?
  • how exactly does the tool help me in tagging (what are its features?)
