Updated recently to latest version.
Every capture that I make does not contain image data.
When I try to paste in into whatever piece of software, different things happen.
MS Paint says "the information on the Clipboard can't be inserted into Paint"
Word acts like there's nothing in the clipboard.
My email client (Lotus Notes) crashes badly whenever I paste my capture.

On the other hand, saved screenshots are OK. Proper img data is saved.
Everything was working very fine until I have updated to ver. 2.0.5 32bit.

2.0.3 is the latest version that works for me.

I found this out while trying to screenshot my simplewall window for the other issue.
Basically, opening the simple wall window disables the functions of Free Shooter, pressing Print Screen did nothing. Also Free Shooter crashed a couple of times randomly. Seems there is some sort of incompatibility between the two programs.

EDIT:
on closer inspection it seems that Free Shooter (and its hotkeys) will not work when the simplewall window is in focus. Hope this helps somehow.

i often use your program and I would like to use the hotkey ''right shift'' plus its adjacent key which is ? since half the time, I take the picture with my right hand. Currently, I use ''shift+f4'' and it works well for the left hand. Can you offer more choices for the hotkeys ?

I want to change some stuff on it like the sound effect of the capture etc..., And when compiling just gives bunch of errors, So either I'm missing something or there's a specific tutorial on it, Thank you in advance

I'm not sure if the issue #13 was closed properly, I'm sorry if i'm disturbing with my ideas :P
Maybe my error by don't explain me a bit better heh.

Please check the 1st and 2nd images corners, from issue #13 both images are saved as PNG, so the transparency is possible here.
But freeshooter is not using the PNG transparency for window corners, if the imagen is saved as JPG or any other format without transparency, is ok, but if we have PNG as format to save images, I think the more proper is save the selected window using the transparency for the corners.
ie. ignoring the background and programs behind the taked window, after all we are taking a screenshot of the current window and nothing else.

By example, this is the result from take a screenshot of current window now

is NOT a manual selection.
Here is capturing the current window, 'recycle bin', with the window shadow, yes, but also is capturing all behind the window, 'firefox window, firefox about window and desktop background' in this case.
ie, is not much different from making a manual capture, where if is logic take window, background, programs, etc

So, basically the issue is, if a window is captured, use the transparency for window corners, and if 'include windw shadow' option is enabled, capture the window and the shadow but with transparency (for png) wihtout any other window/program in the back, or the desktop background.

Version 2.0.4 files are erroneously named (2.0.3 in stead of 2.0.4):

Github is listing version 2 but the program download (and website) are listing v3.

I'm a bit new with how works github, I did a copy of freeshooter repository to update the Spanish.ini

I guess is better if I can modify this file directly in the freeshooter repository or if I can make a merge request or something.
I've used previously the option "Commit directly to the master branch." but I don't know if this notify or what.

Sometimes I want to take picture of a a window appearing while the mouse hovers over some link in some program, so as soon as I move the cursor, i love this floating window. Sometimes I use a keyboard shortcut to trigger the capture of the screen with your program, but sometimes this does not work, so my idea is to have an option for a timer.

I would like to suggest a tiny enhancement- an option to start minimized in system tray:

'Settings' - 'Start minimized', perhaps below 'Load on system startup' option.

I suppose that this option would be very easy to be implemented and would be convenient for some users.

Hi, I was trying to combile the whole program just for a screen shot soundeffect change, What if you guys make it easier? Like a folder to upload the sound effect and rename it to the proper name?, Thank you in advanced

In Free Shooter version 1.9.6 there were settings for screenshots name:

screenshoot[ 001...xxx ]_
screenshoot[ date and time ]_
screenshoot[ random symbols ]_

"random symbols" was useless for me but "date and time" was my preferred naming pattern. Currently Free Shooter (as of version 2.0.1) uses "numbers" pattern only so I would like to ask you to add back the option to use "date and time" pattern (an option to choose between "numbers" and "date and time).

1: move mouse cursors to any screen that is not main screen
2: click the hotkey to take a screenshoot : region
3: notice it wont allowed you to select and areas on this none main monitor

Currently, the "selected region" screenshot (which I have bound to just PrntSc and use as my main method of taking screenshots) only works on the primary display. It doesn't move over to the secondary monitor, and if it's started while the cursor is on the secondary monitor, nothing happens, until you move it over to the primary monitor, where it starts automatically as normal.

Just to clarify, this is an issue only with the "selected region" screenshots, the "Fullscreen" and "Active window" work fine with secondary displays.

First I want to thank you for making an amazing tool.
Here are some feature-requests and some things that Free Shooter doesn't seem to do properly regarding Free Shooter.

FEATURE-REQUEST

1. Please add a feature to be able to add custom filename formats to the screenshots. For example now only 2 filename formats are there these :-
   
   But what if we want to custom file name formats like 1,2,3,4... or dd-MM-yyyy or anything add an option to be able to write out the file format that we want or give some presets like 1,2,3,4... and dd-MM-yyyy or to be able to make our own file format give an option here. Somewhat like the example shown below, This is just an example of an application, Free Shooter would have something different. This is to just to give an idea of what I am saying.
   

ISSUES
2. When we take windows screenshots why some extra parts come in right left and bottom and when we take maximized windows screenshots the clear window shadow feature doesn't take place. Some demonstrations are here:-

Here in this picture see some minute leftovers or windows shadows are coming even if I have disabled the option of include window shadow, They shouldn't come right only the window should come Then Why are they coming?

When we take maximized windows screenshots the clear window feature doesn't take place you can see some part of time the search bar and Why there is the need to show the left outs Just show the window that's it. Why the need some boundary like thing.

3. When I hit the minimize button Free Shooter goes straight up to the system tray Why? It should get minimized not go to the system tray.

Steps to reproduce

1. Be sure that Free Shooter .exe has internet access & is not blocked by any firewall
2. Have Free Shooter installed in portable mode
3. Set program to launch at PC log-in
4. Check "Periodically check for updates" setting
5. Either wait or restart PC, log-in
6. "Update available, do you want to install them?" - Click "Yes"
7. Wait ~3 seconds
8. "Update available, do you want to install them? - Click "Yes" Again

Expected behavior

I would expect it to maybe ask about where the directory is located, but to download and install an update, as well as probably display a gui to visualize the status of said installation.

Currently freeshooter take active window filling the corners with the current desktop background or using a black color if we have Clear window background (vista +) option disabled
But is not possible take an image of the current window with an transparent background, making the window corners "rounded".
Also can be nice take the active window with the window shadow.
So looks currently an image taked of the active window with freeshooter

I have version 2.0.7 64 bit (unicode) and I love it. But each time I open it I get a notice of a language pack update from last March. I update it, it says it was downloaded, but when I open it again I get the same notice.

"Параметры" should be "Options" and ÎÊ should be "OK"

Note sure what to suggest for the Effects tab:

It would be nice if we can do something like

freeshooter.exe --mode=region --save-to=F:/ --format=png

If this can be done, then freeshooter can be used as a command line tool. (Now we have to use the hotkey).

is there a way to name the picture created by Free shooter via the title of the window it captures ? THat would probably work only in the mode capture only ''active window''.
Ideally, the title of the picture would ''title of window''+custom title from Free shooter+date , or some combination of this.

Может я невнимательно смотрел, но, кажется ни на сайте, ни в README.md здесь, ни в самой программе - нигде не задокументировано, что можно открывать папку скриншотов кликом СКМ по иконке в трее.
А ведь это супер-удобная фича.

Догадался только интуитивно, потому что ранее использовал вашу программу memreduct,
в которой на СКМ есть функционал и это задокументировано в настройках программы.

Using Free Shooter I was unable to capture tray controls with sub-menus like this (the screen-shot was taken with another program):

Perhaps for capturing such objects with sub-menus (drop-down menus) it would be better to have a new capture mode:

• Screenshot: object

which allows the user to select the multiple objects (cascading menus), perhaps via 'CTRL+Click' and then 'Enter' to take the screen-shot after the menus have been selected.
