I am using latest Nightly and MultiFox 2.0b4

When developing our sites we use a master "super" account that has the ability to change to other accounts without knowing the password of the account. This bypasses the login detection method that multifox uses. It would be really cool, if we could simply "rename" the multifox profile being used, so that we can login again with the same account, but have a different session/profile.

Does that make sense? Would this be possible to do?

Implement into the toolbar, a button to open a new identity profile... easier to use!

How do you set the default account on a tab that opens by default during Firefox startup.

A tab currently changes the global default user. This is undesirable when a background tab redirects to another TLD that redirects to the original TLD.

Since i updated to FF4 and Multifox 2 beta 2 at some pages i have no chance to login as second identity. Some pages are working with multifox, some not:
e.g. http://www.diesiedleronline.de

Unfortunately the option "open in a new identity profile" in the right click menu on shortcuts isn't available in the new version.

Nevertheless, Multifox is a great add-on, thanks for it!

Its possible open firefox with multifox extension on a new session each time?

However the login processis not recognized and therefore no profile is connected.
I know for a fact that cookies are used (if that helps in any way).
Can this be solved?

I recently installed Firefox 5.0.1 and discovered the "open in new identity profile" link was missing.

After a bit of testing, it appears that, despite getting along in Firefox 3.6, Multifox and Menu Editor don't like each other in Firefox 5.0.1.

Is there any chance at fixing this? Has it perhaps already been fixed in the betas? (I should note that I have only tried version 1.3.2.)

Thank you very much for working on this extension; I cannot believe after all these years Firefox hasn't implemented this natively. Despite what they say: identity profiles are simple to understand, and very useful! Thanks again.

Doesn't look like the code here reflects 2.0b3 or 2.0b2. Mind pushing your latest? I'd like to play with it/hack it to my personal idiosyncrasies...

If i use multifox i can't login to my delicious account via the delicous plugin. With multifox deactivated it works perfectly. I am not sure if the bug is in your scope, maybe you check that together with the guys from: AVOS: [email protected]

Using multifox 2.0b2 w/ Firefox 4.0.1,
I encounter a problem with forums using Discuz!, such as www.uwants.com,
after a period of time, it log me out automatically and I need to sign in again.

Because sites uses different auth systems and cookie storage, it's too hard to correctly manage all sessions for all sites.
But many users need feature with multi sessions only for short list of sites, for example google.com, yandex.ru, yahoo.com.

So, will be good to add "whitelist domains" mode to enable multifox functional only on specific domains and domain wildcards. It is not hard, but helps solve auth problems with subdomains. Can you add this mode?

Multifox works great on Twitter, and it totally replaced Echofon for me. Thank you very much.

However, that is the only site where I need multiple identities, and I would like to disable it on others, so my address bar would be clean.

And also, Multifox breaks my Livejournal experience, so I can imagine one would want to disable it on LJ specifically.

Both of those problems could be easily solved with Blacklist - the list of sites where one does not want Multifox to run, or Whitelist - the list of only sites, where Multifox is permitted.

I am running Multifox 2.0b3 on Aurora 8.0a2.

I like MultiFox 1.3, in particular its clean separation of identity profiles - one per window, and its lack of automatic identity assignment when visiting a website.

One limitation of 1.3 series, which gets in my way is that I have to open identity profiles sequentially. In order to get to the profile no. 6 I have to open 6 windows, which is rather tedious and leaves 6 mostly unused windows on my desktop.

I'd like to have the (File and context) menu extended to allow opening a window with an arbitrary profile number.

I understand 2.0 is currently in Beta, and as such it's expected to break some sites (eg, eBay>PayPal and Etsy>Paypal and other sites that share cookies). So I would like to request an option to Temporarily Disable the extension from a menu instead of having to disable the extension entirely and restart Firefox.

I realize I could ask to add further options like a site exemption list and other such filtering, but for now a simple "On/Off" switch would be great! ^_^ Thanks

I open a page such as http://jimneath.org/2011/04/05/serving-your-facebook-apps-maintenance-page-for-post-requests.html that here has a disqus comments system. This doesn't mark me as being part of any identity profile.

I try and leave a comment via disqus, and it asks me which profile I want to tie my comment to (my google, twitter, facebook account etc...). Whichever of those options I chose when submitted starts a popup window, which I notice DOES have my current Google account identity profile. This tries to add whatever cookies / permissions that disqus needs into the mix, but is clearly doing this in a different identity profile.

Net effect is that I can't actually log into Disqus !

When multifox is enabled, browss in sidebar behaviar is very strange: no response(like google log-in page), affect the main window tab, and the cookies also wrong

As title, I just installed mf 2 beta 2 for the ease of swapping cookies.

However, as I keep logging in and out to create new identity files, sometimes the previous created identity files will disappear from the dropmenu where I wish to choose from for certain cookie.

Only when I create no more than 3 idenities, will there be no such issue. Once I created more than that, the issue will occur to random idenity file( the one I created before 3 idenitites, or the one I created after 3 idenitites, totally unpredictable)

Any idea on that, or the fix for that? Since cookieswap is not supported for a while, this's the last hope i could tend to for the sake of my browsing need.

For Multifox 2, a TLD runs only one system. If 2 systems use the same username, Multifox won't work properly.

A (partial?) solution would be to check cookie/localStorage's host/path.

I'm trying the latest beta in FF 9.0a1 32bit on W7, and since I start the browser it shows Multifox address bar item widely opened with Multifox beta message in all windows and tabs until I make a first login in any site, after that it only shows Multifox item in the adress bar of the tabs where that site is loaded showing the login ID.

I use Google Apps Gmail, and then I have a Remember The Milk gadget on the same page. It seems with MultiFox, I'm unable to get logged into both of these so I can see my todos and my email on the same page. Any help would be appreciated!

Gmail loading forever, fail to load embed Youtube videos in pages and more problems..

I'd like a quick visual way of distinguishing what account each tab is using, by coloring each tab according to account.

About Multifox 1.3: Is there a keyboard shortcut to swap profiles within a given window/tab, i.e. from 3 to 4 for example?

For the new Multifox version it would be very useful to have this shortcut to move between profiles within a window, it would speed up the workflow.

I can not login to the homepage of one of the German telcos (E-Plus is the name). I simply always land on the start login page. If I deactivate Multifox everything is OK.

My Paypal and Ebay account are different emails, I'm unable to pay if Multifox is enabled, in final step where you put Paypal login it ask for login again and again.

Do you know how many YouTube accounts can Multifox (BETA) 2.0b2 handle? Look what happened to me when logging in multiple accounts, it doesn't allow me to do it.

What I did:
I logged in multiple different YouTube users (n1, n2, n3, n4, n5, n6) by clicking 'New Account' in different tabs and singing in, user and pass, ticking the 'Stay signed in' box. The profiles/accounts 'accumulated' in the Multifox list, allowing me to swap between them. However, when I logged in the account n7 - or 7th account- the accounts n1, n2 and n3 'disappear' from the list of profiles available.

The maximum amount of profiles/accounts I've been able to have listed at the same time are 6. When I keep adding accounts, the old ones disappear, with no apparent order.

Is there a limit? What am I doing wrong?

For some larger providers like Google it would be great to have the default/last profile remembered based on the subdomain and also sometimes the path. For example, a user might want different default profile for the following google sites:

docs.google.com
mail.google.com
https://www.google.com/calendar
https://www.google.com/voice

all show cookies is disable

When i log in in more than 15 yahoo answers account the others accounts disappear exactly when i log in a new one, i read about problem #7 and it is not the same i think because i had those 15 accounts open for about 3 hours and they were ok and they didnt disappear or log me out but when i log in more than 15 they instantly dissapear if i do. even if i log in 3 accounts in 2 minutes.

Go to Options > Privacy > Custom settings for history, selecting "Accept cookies" will be deselected within a second... so does this mean there is no way to allow third-party cookies while using Multifox?

Hi i use 3 accounts,lets say A B and C and i would like to request a Shortcut to switch between them.

Like if i press Control + ↑ i go from B to A or if i press Control + ↓ i go from B to C, like those shortcuts so it can be done faster instead of having to click each time i want to switch between my accounts.

like Control + ↑ goes up to the next account that is up the other accounts.

When I logging in to one system (for example, cms admin page) with login "user1", multifox creates profile "user1".
After I need to the login in new tan to another system in this domain (for example, cms admin page on subfolder, or phpmyadmin) with different username "user2". I logging in with user2 and multifox creates "user2" profile, login is successfull.

After that I goes back to first tab, multifox shows "user1" profile in url. I go to next page or do the refresh current page and got "access denied", so the session was lost. If I change profile to "user2", session will restored and I see me logged in.

Same problem with subdomains - when I do auth on domain example.com, I lost session on subdomain.example.com.

Can you fix this problem?
Quick solution may be adding domain blacklist in multifox settings, for which session monitoring will be disabled. This is not hard to do and helps me temporary solve my problem.

I know this is a very strange issue but it is true. The day I installed Multifox 2 Beta, the embedded vimeo videos started showing black boxes. I updated my flash tried disabling ad blocking addons but couldn't solve the issue. I then disabled the addons I had installed the previous day and by trial and error method I zeroed in on multifox 2 beta which came out to be the culprit. I am using Firefox 4.0.1 and the latest flash build.

I would like to see new profiles in new tabs, not just new windows. For those of us that do most of our work in tabs, and like ctrl-pgup/pgdwn movement, this would make our lives a lot easier.

Configuration:

• Firefox Version: 4.0.1
• Multifox Version: Beta 2.0b2
• Google Toolbar Version: 7.1.20110316W

Scenario:

• When you try to login from the Google Toolbar icon (so the Bookmarks button, etc, begin to work), a popup windows appear and you introduce your account data. After accept, in the Google Toolbar you must see a green circle telling you that you are logged.

Problem:

• After successfully login, the username is correctly showing in the address bar (as with other web services). But the Google Toolbar is saying that you are not logged in. The circle (that must be green) is still in gray, and the login button says "Connect" (and must by showing the username used to login).
• I have tested with other versions of the Google Toolbar and the result is the same.
• I have tested that, with all the versions tested, disabling Multifox makes this problem disappear.

Using Multifox Beta 2 and Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.6, things don't quite work right. Nothing crashes, but upon a session restore even if there were multiple tabs open under multiple accounts (say 3 Yahoo! Mail tabs, each with a different account) in the restored version they'll all be open for the same account. I'm not sure if this is more of a Tab Mix Plus issue than a Multifox one, and it's a minor annoyance at best, but if there was a way to preserve multiple open accounts across session restores that would be awesome.

After installing multifox I can not login anymore in my intranet server using its hostname (http://myserver/). I had to add extension (http://myserver.network/).
Otherwise I got this error:

here's the condition :
1st test :

• opening 3 facebook account for playing games on 1 FF window (tab 1 : account A, tab 2 : account B, tab 3 : account C)
• after several times, the identities disappear and it's all mixed up one to another (tab 1 became account B, tab 2 became account C, tab 3 became account A, for example)
• need a refresh or back to facebook.com page but after a period of time it's all mixed up again

2nd test :

• opening 3 facebook account on new windows (1 window = 1 account)
• the problem still remain the same

I just installed Multifox 1.3.1 on Windows XP SP3 Firefox 5.0.1 and on a MacBook with OS X 10.6.8 and on both Multifox is NOT working.
I have the entries in the context menu, and when I click it I get a new tab, but without the Multifox number-icon.
When I switch to a tab with another google login and I reload that page, then this tab will be the login of the just opened Multifox Tab. It should keep its old login.
The tabs use still the same cookies, so there no way to use different accounts in different tabs with Multifox.
I have Tab Mix Plus installed and some other Add-Ons, maybe they interfere but I won't uninstall them.

In sort of the opposite of #34, it would be useful to let multifox 2 to know that some domains are equivalent and should share profiles. Some examples:

ameritrade.com, tdameritrade.com
youtube.com, google.com
cnet.com, cnettv.com, com.com, download.com, news.com, search.com, upload.com
bing.com, hotmail.com, live.com, microsoft.com, msn.com, passport.net
apple.com, me.com

Lastpass has this functionality and call it "equivalent domains". They have a default global set that multifox could start with.

I love multifox (2.0b), me and my wife use it primarily because of our multiple google accounts. But it's not perfect, I have the following issues/ideas:

A) whitelist / blacklist
Sadly, multifox breaks a few pages for me:

• feedly.com, that page uses google logins, can't login with multifox enabled (opens a popup for login, looses cookie?)
• various little issues with battlelog.battlefield.com (server browser / stats page for Battlefield 3) The game is launched from the browser and in some cases synching between the game client ant the web page doesn't seem to work.
• paying with paypall is impossible with multifox enabled (haven't tried with 2.0b4)

All of this could be fixed with blacklisting pages or, preferably, whitelisting. I am aware that you have no plans to include this feature, but I beg you to reconsider.

B) default login for webpages
youtube is the main reason for this. I use youtube with only one of my google accounts, an that account is not my primary. I have a google+ tab always open on my primary account, and when I click any youtube link (on any page), it opens youtube with my primary mail. I always have to manualy switch to the correct account so I can comment, thumbs up/down, etc. A default login would come in handy.

some how always need to re log-in... and I don't have only one account in those site. Very annoying, try to delete the cookies.sqlite, don't work.
Anyone esle encounter similiar issue?
