That's fine, that's what the example does, it uses the subtract operator to bounce between 8 and 4.

Understandable, the subtract command is just a more flexible replacement to the old bounce operator, it can be used to replicate the old behaviour.

The clock rate is not in sync with the increment rate. Looks like every other note is played though. It is still not clear to me how to synchronize the C and D or I rates.

As long as the rate of the C is the same as the mod of the D, they will be in sync.

I see the D2 banging the note but nothing is happening on the right except the "2B8" is processed and H increments to an I. Change in the B behavior?

This does nothing on its' own. I can add a value greater than or equal to 4
before the B and will get the release of an E but it does not continue.

This looks like an old example? Where did you find that?
