Note: this problem doesn't always occur, and it appears to be connected to my dual monitor setup (i.e. the problem doesn't appear when using my laptop display alone)

Dug into this and the windows generated in Eclipse via ^space aren't actually being treated as active. I haven't had a chance to test with multiple monitors yet, though.
