emojos.in's Issues

Authenticated fetch would be nice

It'd be kinda nifty to implement just enough of the ActivityPub spec to make emojos.in act like an instance and be able to perform authenticated fetch for the custom emojis endpoint.

Server error on older mastodon instances

When checking an older mastodon instance, one that predates custom emojojn, it gives an 500 internal server error

Example: mastodon.club hasn't been updated in a while, it is running ver 1.4.1, checking for custom emojos on mastodon.club throws a 500 internal server error

This also happens when you check websites that are not mastodon instances, but presumably old mastodon instances is a more relevant fail.

lazy load emojis

When loading emojis from an instance that provides quite a lot (Several hundreds) will it not just slow down the website, but your entire browser alongside it.

This can probably be reduced (if not even prevented) by applying a loading=lazy attribute to the <img> tag.

Instance that you can make your browser cry with: https://emojos.in/blobfox.coffee

Pleroma compatibility

It seems to be incompatible for some reason with pleroma, even through it have mastodon API too.
I also looked at my server’s log and nothing seems to be wrong.

Tested with:

  • social.hacktivis.me (my instance)
  • pleroma.soykaf.com (lead dev instance)

Error page does not exist

When entering a non-Mastodon-domain or a domain of an instance that's pre-custom-emojos (yes, those apparently still exist), I think the code is supposed to show https://emojos.in/oh_no.html, but that page doesn't exist, so it just shows a generic 500 error

(I might be wrong about the behavior, but this is what I deduced from the source code)

Add option to see animated emojos

There's a lot of animated emojis nowadays and there seems to have no way to see the animated versions in emojos.in, it would be nice to be able to click a button to see animated versions :)
