Project DREAME.txt - "Choose Your Own Soliloquy"

DREAME.txt will be my new interactive blog and autobiography. This is where I will write down personal monologues that you might hear from me if I'm feeling particularly reflective during a conversation. In between long passages, you will be presented with choices - hypothetical questions that you ask me to steer the course of the monologue. I've heard that I should journal more often, but I find that it utterly lacks interaction - it's like you're talking to a wall. I only have so much to say before I cover everything that I immediately feel like talking about, and when I run out of things to say about this particular topic, then what?

If you want to read my thoughts and find some occasionally powerful lines to highlight or screenshot, then please leave a comment about something you want to see me reflect on. Note that I write these in response to conversation because it makes me more inclined to think.

First conversation starters:

  • In my college application essay, I once wrote, "programming is the computer equivalent of creative writing; the keyboard is the pencil, the language is the dictionary, the syntax is the grammar, and the software is the book." Personally, I don't agree with this statement all too much anymore.

    • The struggle of creativity and how people come up with ideas
  • Prolific artists who have influenced me - "Weird Al" Yankovic, Neil Cicierega, George Moromisato, MustardPlus, etc.
  • My portfolio, abandoned projects and one-off creations
    • When I started writing Java, and when I stopped writing it.
      • When I spent the entirety of my high school senior year programming a stupid Java tool
    • Programming is boring, but also programming is addictive
    • When I became Documentarist for Transcendence
    • Projects that I have revived - Island Hopper, Transgenesis
  • My issue with classes and clubs
    • Dealing with perpetual boredom
    • When I don't go to clubs since I can basically learn anything by myself
    • When I'm not professionally inclined to work
