On a similar note, having a nice 'how to run a demo' bit like the node repo has would be pretty nice.

Why not use Wiki for something like dev.md?

Because I want to be able to carry it along with the code. I think the github wiki is poorly structured. It should just be a branch in the same repo (rather than a different one).
