Installing couchapp with easy_install

The linked instructions don't make it clear that couchapp can be installed via $ easy_install couchapp (first $ brew install python with Homebrew on OS X). Not sure if this belongs in the tutorial or not, just mentioning it.

Difference Between the Two Apps

The introduction could spell out the distinction between the two different apps a bit more. It might not be completely clear to readers where one app ends and the other begins.

Zero-Based Steps

Should the steps be zero-based? In general, tutorials should be as accessible as possible. Perhaps the subject matter of this particular tutorial requires a certain level of knowledge to begin with, but I tend to err on the side of making tutorials as transparent as possible.

Add videos

from @glynnbird: Might be worth having a video at the start of the tutorial showing what it is we are building i.e. a desktop browser showing the map, and someone in car going off with data capture page open, and showing the real-time updates!

Smart Quotes

The text ‘watchID = null' begins with a smart quote. Smart quotes should probably be zapped in general.

Opening paragraph trips me up a bit

Do we need to say this in the opening paragraph?

"Note that these two apps are completely separate. The movement tracking map could be mapping hundreds of devices that are storing their locations in the database, but it knows nothing about the actual devices out in the field. It’s just reading location data from the database. The two apps will seem connected, however, because the updates occur so seamlessly."

I could see making this distinction further down in the tutorial, where the developer is starting in on one or the other of the apps. Here, I found it a little confusing, and had to read it a few times.

.couchapprc Should Not Be Version Controlled

The .couchapprc file is in version control, and probably shouldn't be as it contains usernames and passwords. It should instead be listed in .gitignore and either a template provided either through a version-controlled file (e.g. .couchapprc.dist) or just in the README.
