For mac:

To setup MySQL database:

brew install mysql
mysql.server start
mysql -u root -p (or GUI: TablePlus)
populate tables based on db_population.sql
mysql.server stop (when finished)

To setup Flask:

python3 -m venv venv (to create venv based on req.txt)
export FLASK_APP=main
export FLASK_ENV=development
flask run
