What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install SurveillanceSaver
2. Test or Load it.

I expect the Surveillance Saver to work properly, but instead I have a
white screen with a Huge X accross the screen, and the following error message:
Microsoft .NET Framework

Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue,
the application will ingore this error and attempt to continue.[...]
"Font Arial does not support style "Regular""


What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Windows XP SP2
tried them all, same thing everytime.

I haven't seen any XP issues so I assume either everyone who installed it
on XP had no problem, or no one installed it on XP... anyways, I really
don't understand this issue please provide me with further info, if
possible through e-mail

1. Set surveillancesaver as screen saver and wait until it is activated
2. Once surveillancesaver is active, there is no possibility to close it
(for example, moving and clicking the mouse does not work)
3. Using Ctrl-Alt-Del to activate the task manager crashes the application

When clicking or moving the mouse, the password dialog should be displayed;
in reality, nothing happens and the application crashes.

SurveillanceSaver alpha 3 (Win32) on Windows Vista Business 32 bit

Sometimes the cameras take a while to load, when they do eventually load 
then they have a couple of secs and go to the next camera.

Thinking about it would it not be more efficiant to have a few threads 
running. One to actually display the cam footage the others to get the 
next camera footage ready.

1. Install Little Snitch on your Macintosh
2. Install and activate surveillancesaver

The screen saver never activates.  A black screen persists.  Supposedly, Little 
Snitch is asking 
permission for the screen saver to connect out to the network, but the user 
can't see or respond 
to the dialog because the screen is black.  It's quite difficult to get control 
back from the black 
screen as well, but command-period seems to work.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Just downloaded it four hours ago, onto 10.4.11

method:
run it on Vista x64 SP1 with QuadCore and 4GB on dual monitor

symptom:
ridiculously long startup & stop times - I found endtask from taskmanager 
the only practical method to end it.

love the idea...it just doesn't cycle through shots on my laptop....

1. Using "hot corner" to start the screensaver, it never starts.  Screen just 
goes black.
2. When I use the "test" feature, it works every 3rd time or so.  Other times 
it's just a black 
screen.  Takes about 30 seconds for the first successful screen to appear.

Images from around the world expected.  I see nothing.

I made a short list of working cams.  I did not take a lot of time in choosing 
the working hosts, so I probably skipped some valid ones.  At least this way 
you don't see a blank screen.

Open the qtz file in Quartz Composer and then click on the upper left node of 
the graph called "Javascript"  Then click on the menu item "Editor->Show 
Inspector"  In the little window that opens, click on the dropdown and select 
"Settings"

Replace the javascript contents with the following:

2. go to preview of it in Display Prefs, no images when I select this
screen saver
3. uninstalled then reinstalled, same results.

avg, spywareguard, etc. maybe they are blocking the ss? only a guess, no

Most of the cam sources are not widescreen aspect, it stretches to fill
screen and everything is flattened.  I expect to see black bars on either
side to maintain aspect ratio.

Tried it on following wide screens: dell monitor with 1680x1050 resolution,
also Sony Vaio laptop at 1280x800 resolution.

I am using a 10.6 Mac (Snow Leopard) and I can't use the screensaver (I think 
it's something related to something called '3rd-party'). Is there any way of 
enabling this 3rd-party or to use this screensaver in Snow Leopard?

I expect a "Connecting" maybe for a few seconds" but this can be for 30
seconds or maybe more.

Also, during this time it is usually impossible to exit out of the
screensaver with mouse movement or typing.  I have to ctrl-alt-delete to
bring up the Vista task screen, then can hit escape.

Surveillancesaver is supposed to become the screen's wallpaper (works OK on
Mac with XBack). In Vital Desktop sometimes I get blank screen, sometimes
no response. In  Screen2Dream, no response or says "problem starting screen
saver." Other screen savers work OK with these apps.

confirmation to send bug report to MS.

The screensaver should exit gracefully.
Instead, an error message comes up saying it has unexpectedly quit, and
asks if you want to send an error report to Microsoft (I did).

Expected output is a slideshow showing surveillance feeds around the world. 
Every tested release freezes or crashes after showing just a few feeds.

I've tested each version on three difference operating systems. None of them 
will continue to show feeds without error or crashing.

Hey guys, if anyone is still monitoring this page....love the screen saver. 
Just wondering if there is anyway to get the cameras running on both displays 
if running dual monitor? I use the screensaver on both Win and OSX...both with 
dual displays.

3.  > Screensaver > Launch

That the program will run, instead I get "SURVEI~1.SCR - Application Error
Process ID=0x5ac (1452), Thread ID=0x344(836). Click OK to terminate the
application. Click CANCEL to debug the application".
I then get another message from "Microsoft.NET Framework
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you
click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to
continue. 'minValue' cannot be greater that maxValue. Parameter name: minValue

I can't even get SurveillanceSaver_Alpha_3_Win32 to run now. I say now
because it was working perfectly until I tried to modify the .xml document
using notepad, it went south so I restored a backup I took before I started
but when I go to test the screensaver by pressing preview, the preview
button clicks down and back up without launching the program. I tried
unistalling and reinstalling but this hasn't worked either the screensaver
won't launch. At least with this previous version I get an error message to
google.

Steps:
1. I took the list of webcams from the latest Mac version (alpha 3). There were 
482 listed, and only 199 appear to be unique.
2. I combined that list with D. Phiffers modifications and removed dups. See 
http://mlkshk.com/surveillancesaver and 
http://phiffer.org/etc/surveillance_saver.zip
3. From that merged and de-duped list I got 205 unique URL's
4. Pulled down each URL in that list with a 30 second timeout, and removed URLs 
that asked for authentication or that were in reality giving 404's. That leaves 
a total of 32 working URL's.
5. Re-pulled geolocation info using http://batchiplocator.webatu.com/ and 
re-formatted the array. Use the method in the previous issue to insert this 
list into your surveillance saver qtz file.
