due to blocking reads a poll loop is used, however this checks stdout before stderr. as such sometimes the reported data will be out of order compared to how it appears in the terminal.

have a look at re implementation using fnctl to do non blocking reads

some results from pip (search or update) have a multi line description, the package name is always followed by brackets with the version number/description in them however the beginning of each line of the package description is incorrectly marked as a package name.

if run from a user only installation (just me) only finds user only installs, if run on global installs (everyone) only finds other global installs.

exclusions are currently stored as a big list that applies to all python versions, this should probably be stored as version specific lists

check if pip exits with error and add column for errored packages.
also add check that pip exists...
