Xcode Command Line Tools

Install Xcode and run this first so that the system doesnt ask you later

xcode-select --install

Homebrew / Terminal / Shell

Homebrew

Homebrew - the macos package manager

Terminal

iTerm will be installed when doing brew casks

Shell

USE POWER LEVEL 10k

Link Make it look like this:

Brew Formulae

xargs brew install < brew-formulae.txt

This will install:

git, vcprompt, cowsay, fortune, bash, ffmpeg, openjdk, iperf3, etc.

Brew Casks

xargs brew cask install < brew-casks.txt

This will install:

alfred, dropbox, docker, google-chrome, rectangle, alt-tab, android-file-transfer, android-platform-tools, keepingyouawake, discord, slack, istat-menus, vlc, keka, kap, figma, scroll-reverser, time-out, visual-studio-code, zoom, etc.

Enable Brew auto upgrades

brew autoupdate start –-upgrade –-cleanup

NOTE: Homebrew Issue #40 - Fix for sudo needed for brew autoupgrade - YOU NEED THIS FOR Blackhole-2ch

Git Config

git config --global user.email "YOUR_EMAIL"
git config --global user.name "YOUR NAME"
git config --global core.editor "nano"

Finder Settings

Settings - General

  • Show these itesm on the desktop --> UNCHECK ALL
  • New Finder Windows Show --> Home Directory

Settings - Advanced

  • Check Show All filename extensions
  • When performing a search: --> Search the Current Folder

Settings - Sidebar (Fix Favorites)

  • Add Development Folder
  • Remove Recents
  • Add Music
  • Add Pictures
  • Add Home (also move to top)

Menu - View

  • Show Status Bar
  • Show Path Bar

Menu Bar Customizations

Node.js w/ yarn/expo-cli/amplify-cli

Install Node Version Manager and Yarn/pnpm/expo/amplify for each version
