A few remarks before I begin:

• I know this isn't an issue, but there doesn't seem to be any other way to contact the dev (other than Discord, which is a horrible place for discussion and idea sharing compared to a regular forum)
• I'm new to ValliStart, so there's a chance this is already an option and I'm just not aware of it.

So in Win10, I used the start menu as (I think) it should be used. I had it full-screen, mainly because the dumb tiles were so big, but it was completely structured to my liking. A group of tiles here, a group of tiles there, all neatly packed and with great overview. Win11 took this away, since you can only have apps in concurrent fashion, all in a line. ValliStart does kinda provide this option, but there currently simply isn't enough room to pin apps, with a maximum of 10. That's why I have a proposal.

I would love to see an option to convert a "box" to a clickthrough / folder, like you have on smartphones. Basically, you click a box, and it either opens a new overlay, or it converts the current overlay to the new one, maybe something like this (excuse my awesome paint skills, it's only to get the point across)

As you can see, this would allow us to have 30 pinned apps per folder, allowing for a total of 300 pinned apps by "just" adding a layer, and scrolling could even be added.

As a secondary suggestion: It would also be nice if a wider start menu would result in more "boxes", instead of them becoming larger, or if there was an option to set the number of boxes per row, to make it even more customizable. To finish off: it would be nice if empty boxes could be "invisible", so it's really possible to make a nice grouping of your apps.

Other than that, I feel like this is the first start menu alternative that's actually worth using, so great job! Hopefully it'll continue to improve over time.

in the valistart serach key programing option i cant add a shortcut alt+space. I would need to add alt+ something and then select space as a modifier but It's not what i need. Could you enable me to add my custom shortcut please?

Can you make is so after lauching the start menu disappears fast.. it currently take about 2 to 3 seconds.

It is understandable to assume that one or the other is all that is needed, but is there a way to ensure that both are enabled from startup? Refreshing Vallistart and pressing an assigned key(s) twice to exit out of it isn't much of an ordeal. It's become a routine when turning on Windows so I was wondering if this was intentional or a bug since I still open Vallistart to check the volume, track, as well as time. There's another issue I'm experiencing which is the pseudo and power buttons closing and reopening when clicked. If I accidentally click on a button I'd normally click on it again to close it, but these two just reopen.

I have a problem with start because I have a reduced taskbar and it cannot be adjusted. I have windows 10.

As shown in the video, the windows key fires Vallistart in any other application but as soon as Task Manager's Window is in focus, VallStart stops working and the Windows Default Start is opened.

i have portable version of rainmeter. what to do

Shortcut keys do not work with ValliStart if Rainmeter wasn't installed in C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Rainmeter.exe

The padding on the top and bottom of the dlc big header is too much and the option of changing padding based on px or % would be a really useful module specific setting.

ValliStart version is v2.8.
Core version is 03633 Master version 3, Powershell 5.1

Currently, if ValliStart is enabled when Rainmeter starts, it stops responding while loading skins. However, if disabled on startup, I can go JaxCore and set it to active manually and it works fine.

Also had issues with both MIUI-Shade and Keystrokes which caused JaxCore to freeze and crash. Resolved this by reinstalling JaxCore (was already up-to-date, just used the same installer). So it may be an issue with the new version of JaxCore rather than ValliStart

i changed my user name folder and now icons on shortcuts aren't visible. I don't want to add anything again. Is there a way to edit e.g. configuration file and change path from old to new?

when i download jaxcore a blue screen appears;

After clicking anywhere on ValliStart and then clicking on the desktop, the ValliStart/Winblock replacement widget disappears and only reappears after clicking on a different Rainmeter widget or the taskbar.
Otherwise, Vallistart still opens, if done so through the Windows key, but won't do it through the replacement start button/widget given that it disappeared.

Love this entire project! My only gripe is that the weather widget looks kinda weird with the sidebar theme:

It could probably use a bit more space between the two? I would just use the veklMusic widget but I think it's really cute to be able to like the currently playing song from the widget.

Is there any way to get a custom search that is within the vallistart start menu, because I don't like having to use the windows search to search things instead of the vallistart menu which would just feel like it had so much more integration.

it automatically displays the start menu when i log into windows. i have rainmeter portable set to start as i log in using task scheduler.

because of this rainmeter hangs and other software are trying to boot up at this time.. is there a way for it to not show up when i log into windows. i am on latest Jax core and Vallistart. i read other issue where other user had same issue but he went afk. so i am providing this in advance.

I installed ValliStart to test it out and I realized it wasn't for me, but upon uninstallation, my windows key doesn't work. The on-screen button works but the actual key on my keyboard doesn't. Is there any way for me to get it back?

Simply typing 1111 in Ver. 3.54 would set the corners to a right angle even without the vertical bars, but do not anymore. Originally, there would be a setting of 0|0|0|0 that you could change to 1|1|1|1, making the corners right angled. When clicking into the box there appear to be brackets that make it look like [#RemoveRoundCorner#]. The issue is that it doesn't seem to remove round corners. Blur rounding size is currently set to "None" so this may be another issue, or perhaps it's just my own.

I've been trying to install the features in jaxcore, but have been unable to, at first I couldn't download it directly from inside the main app (or manager) cause it just keeps loading.

So I just went through Deviant and downloaded it.
After I run the file, it shows installing.

Then after it "installs", this pops up

And just to clear any doubts, I already have Jaxcore installed as you saw in the first picture.

And then the Windows Powershell opens up

Which proceeds to close on it's own after 30 seconds of nothing happening.

And so I can't install it, I would appreciate some quick help.

To the developer(s). A suggestion to improve ValliStart even much more than it is now and you already have the code freely available from Open-Shell!

Just add all the features of Open-Shell (also on Github) to this ValliStart but, instead of being an addon to rainmeter, make it a separate addon that does not need rainmeter installed.

tried restarting ctfmon nothing works.
Default taskbar works fine.

When using ValliStart even when it's not open, I find myself sometimes unable to left-click anything. When I right-click I get the Rainmeter Context Menu for ValliStart where I can choose to unload it.

I am running up to date Windows 10 with no other Rainmeter skins apart from yourVolumeMixer on a Dell Precision 5550.

What I mean by "start menu folders" are like an organised bundle of other files or whatever on the start menu. Hey there! I've been having a really annoying issue with Jaxcore. Once my computer turns on, sometimes Jaxcore doesn't even load even if I forcefully open it. Also, when it does load, after 30 minutes it crashes or somehow disappears taking away all the features, like Clocks, and such. When this happens, the Window Key does not function as it's supposed to. Don't get me wrong, Jaxcore has fantastic features. But, even the best companies are not perfect. If anyone knows the solution to this, please do let me know. Thank you.

Edit: If I open rainmeter it the features turn back on. But, I can't make, change, or delete any features without resetting my computer because Jaxcore won't open.

When I activates blur in mClocks, the apps reloads and crashes over and over again

whenever I turn on my pc, settings for ValliStart (3.? recently updated to 3.4 but It doesnt state last version most likely 3.3) have reverted back to old settings.

• The position changes from bottom left to top right
• The y padding size changes
• The activation mode changes from Replace start back to separate module

using windows 10, other installed programs:
droptop, ModularClocks (2.23), ModularPlayers (2.42)

When Start menu is open, if you try to close it by clicking on a windows button it closes when you press it, but if you dont release it immediately it opens back once you release it.

i am using laptop with 1366x768 screen resolution and i cant change the skin size

i have try to make a shortcut for it (%ProgramFiles%\Rainmeter\Rainmeter.exe !Toggleconfig "ValliStart\Main" "Main.ini") but it is not working properly can you tell how i can make a shortcut to use it

Heya.
My default downloads folder is changed (I have it on other disk), how can I change it in HotApps? I've tried to change path inside of ValliStart\@Resources\Powershell\Func.ps1 file:

Path="D:\Downloads" instead of Path="%USERNAME%\Downloads"

but it didn't really work - ValliStart still doesn't show any files in downloads folder and shows 0 as a size. What can I do?

Whenever I name the file vekl it will reload but doesn't show up

So as soon as I updated JaxCore to it's latest version as of now (v.50200) it seemed like ValliStart has been dropping me issues with the following error message:

Script file not found:
C:\Users\{User}\Documents\Rainmeter\ValliStart@Resources\Actions\Source Code\Close.ahk (or some other related .ahk warnings)

I've tried re-downloading, downgrading, closing all ahk processes... but nothing seemed to really work.

When the background of the start menu is set to acrylic or blur, there's shadows of sharp corners ghosting behind the rounded ones:

Is there a solution for this while still keeping it acrylic?

The information on the start page seems outdated. In the General Tab is no way of changing the Weather Location.
Where can I change it in the files? I couldn't find it myself. But tbf I didn't look very long.

When I first downloaded ValliStart, it worked perfectly.

But when I restarted my computer, everything worked perfectly other than *ValliStart.

I tried reinstalling it but when I did so, I got this error ⬇️

JaxCore keeps crashing when i try to customize ValliStart

whenever i use the windows key to open Vallistart, it bugs.
meanwhile, when I use droptop's win key, it bugs a bit then fixes itself.
I'm on the latest version on win10.

I have the issue that with YourFlyouts only the volume bar is showing and not the icon of what is playing I can fix that by opening JaxCore but auto-starting JaxCore is annoying because it always starts in full screen then. The same goes for the Volume Mixer that only shows up when I disable it and then activate it again. Even more annoying than with YourFlyouts.

Please add support for WebNowPlaying Plugin...

every click Load of ValliStart there's nothing display on my desktop.. please fix for my Windows 11

When switching to another video, the area under the media player's line will become transparent. The transparency goes past the module and dividing lines. When set to acrylic, the area beneath becomes standard transparency. When trying to switch to Dark and CoreUI I experienced the area beneath having an opacity of nearly 0%. Sometimes it goes away, but that has only happened a few times. It may be an issue with auto resize kicking in before the video player does, but I cannot say for sure. I haven't found a way to disable it after enabling other than what is mentioned next. The issue seemed to go away after uninstalling and reinstalling, but auto resize was the main difference before I did that. Though, it returned shortly after. Refreshing is a momentary fix as it returns after as well and I end up entering and exiting to re-enable Bluetooth since it gets turned off. I also experience Vallistart freezing when clicking "Reconfigure in Core" and have to click on the start orb to exit out instead of clicking on a separate area of the screen. It stays frozen above all my windows. Rainmeter had suddenly closed and when I returned, the basic Win11 start menu appeared instead of the sidebar. I apologize as I am unable to contribute much to this matter other than report my issues since I am getting into coding. Sorry for any confusion my explanations may bring. Have a nice day!

This happens from time to time, while the app is still working, and I have to reload Rainmeter again.

Whenever I try to redownload/update ValliStart, it just throws an error message saying either "Unable to move to: C:\Users\myname\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins@Backup\ValliStart" or " Unable to create file: C:\Users\myname\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\ValliStart@Resources\Actions\AHKv1.exe. Skin Installer will now quit. Click OK to close Skin Installer." (when I turn backup skin off in installer)
