Palera1n is a jailbreak tool currently in development, compatible with A11 (iPhone X) and earlier devices running iOS 15.0 - iOS 17.5.1, with some considerations for A11 devices.
For A11 devices, it's important to note that you must disable your passcode during the jailbreak process. You won't be able to use features like Face ID/Touch ID, Apple Pay, or any other SEP functionality until you boot into a stock iOS state. If your device is an A11 device on iOS 16 and you've set a passcode before, you'll need to erase all content and settings to proceed with the jailbreak.
If you're using an older version of palera1n that was tethered, ensure you remove it before continuing.
To install the Palera1n Jailbreak, you can use macOS or Linux. If you have a Windows PC, use the Palera1n-C Jailbreak.
- Install Palera1n Jailbreak for iOS 15 - iOS 17
- Open a terminal window.
- Run the command:
sudo /bin/sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://static.palera.in/scripts/install.sh)"
- If you are using a USB-C to Lightning cable, you may encounter issues entering DFU mode. In such cases:
- Switch to a USB-A to Lightning cable and, if needed, use a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
- For Apple Silicon Mac users, unplug and replug the device after "Checkmate!" appears in the logs.
- Make sure your device is plugged in.
- Run
palera1n
. - Follow the on-screen instructions to enter DFU mode.
- Note: A9(X) and earlier devices might encounter issues midway through the process in pongoOS. To resolve:
- Press Control + C in the terminal window.
- Rerun the command.
- Repeat these steps every time you rejailbreak your device.
- Note: A9(X) and earlier devices might encounter issues midway through the process in pongoOS. To resolve:
- Once the device boots up, open the palera1n loader app and tap Sileo. After a brief period, set a passcode for command line usage, and then Sileo should appear on your home screen.
- To rejailbreak your device, rerun the command you used initially and follow applicable steps.
- Depending on your Linux distribution, you may encounter issues with the latest version (2.0.0b9) of palera1n.
- If issues arise:
- Consider using a different Linux distribution like Ubuntu.
- Alternatively, use palen1x, which does not have this issue.
- For devices running 15.0 to 16.7.4, manually install palera1n 2.0.0b7.
- Avoid using Virtual Machine software from Windows, as it will likely lead to failure.
- Computers with AMD Ryzen CPUs may experience issues. In such cases, use a Mac or a computer with an Intel CPU.
- Open a terminal window.
- Run the following commands:
sudo systemctl stop usbmuxd sudo usbmuxd -f -p
- Open another terminal window.
- Run:
sudo /bin/sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://static.palera.in/scripts/install.sh)"
- Run:
sudo palera1n
