I was able to reproduce the error. In its simplest form:
Start with the next 2 line program
f1()
f2()
Comment the second line with //
After placing the first / an attempt is made to create a division block which needs two expression and instead is given two statements. This locks the blocks to code conversion and a page reload is needed for this to work again.
An error of incompatible types is printed, so we may be able to catch this error and avoid converting blocks to code when present.

It seems the problem is that the workspace.addChangeListener(updateWorkspace) does not fire any more after this error.
I was able to keep the editor working by calling manually to updateWorkspace anytime the editor receives a change. But adding or deleting blocks does not work (or update) anymore.
