Probably easier to do with Tomcat:

Warning, the tomcat plugin version 2.2 is buggy, we need to use version 2.1 -> https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MTOMCAT-211

@jmirc as far as I know they are just using the Tomcat Maven plugin, the same way as I intend to do. And that's really easy to do as long as you have sorted a couple of plugin issues (which I just did).
This should be done anytime soon.
