Thinking of different way to do this

Jim, thanks for getting this on github :)
I was thinking that it might be faster to handle the expand collapse in a different way, but it would involve making a new TreeListView class that overrides some of the behavior in ListView. Instead of hide and remove elements as you do now, I was going to put boolean on hidden elements in list, and then instead of start and end index, was going to have the listView calculate the view items by start and delta which goes through array sequencially looking for only nodes which are visible till it gets the the number it needs.
I will give it a try and then show you when done. I think it will solve the slowness problems of expand / collapse.
