bookmarksync's Issues

If a bookmark is written in Cyrillic, after every system reboot it appears as gibberish

If a bookmark is written in Cyrillic, after every system reboot it appears as gibberish and I have to open bookmarksync and manually click "copy to the other side" (from GTK to Qt), so that the prorgram gets the right letters. That gibberish appears in all Qt windows, no matter the program. I thought that maybe it's expecting them to be in i18n, as I was told, but the source appears to be set to UTF-8, so IDK what else could be causing that.

Provide cli options

It would be good to provide command line options for syncing, such as for example:
bookmarksync --entity-type=bookmark --index=all --from=kde --to=gtk
This way users could automate syncing.

Sync recent files

Thanks for the app! It was hard to find it. Googled by "kde to gtk places synchronizer", "file picker synchronize bookmarks" and so on. Already wanted to start my own project for that, but finally found yours. Mentioned it in this question and also in Arch Wiki. Hope now it will be found easier.

Now, it would be cool to also sync the recent files.

Feature request: add option to sync daily

Feature request to add an ability to sync daily

Possible UIs:

E.g. add next to each "Copy to the other side" button an extra button called "Copy daily to the other side". Of the three buttons "Copy daily to the other side", max 1 should be selectable at the same time.

E.g. 2 add a separate dropdown on top with 4 options:

  1. sync none daily
  2. sync GTK+ to rest daily
  3. sync KDE to rest daily
  4. sync QT local to rest daily

Installing on Ubuntu

Hi all,
I'm using Tuxedo OS (Ubuntu derivative using KDE) and would love to use this app.
How do you recommend I install this on Ubuntu? Is there a repo or Flatpak that I can use?
Rik

Wrong icon in desktop file

Currently, it is set to "application-executable". There is no such icon. You may check available icons with Cuttlefish in KDE.
You most likely wanted to use "application-x-executable".

Add versioning

To simplify checking latest version, I suggest adding a tag badge to readme. Here is what is looks like:
Latest Tag
Here is code for it:

Sync with qt file picker dialogs

There are also qt file pickers. One of such applications is DaVinci Resolve (currently 17.3).
It would be nice to have dolphin's bookmarks there too.
