mapping_toolkit's Introduction

Mapping Toolkit

Developped by Joanie Lemercier

The mapping toolkit is a pack of patches / modules dedicated to projection mapping. The first two are:

MAPPING TOOLKIT - SVG A tool to animate SVG files, and produce visual content simply, and in realtime. Classic points and lines animations are available, and it's easy to add more animations. My todo list, if you'd like to help ;) http://piratepad.net/9RVN59jG1o

MAPPING TOOLKIT - WARPING A texture sampling, output warping patch: crop, sample any texture (image, remote content, video, generative animation), and then distort, warp that texture on the video output. Useful for multiple output, and simple warping to re align a projection mapping.

These patches are still incomplete, but expect regular updates here, and feel free to ask for new features and questions.

mapping_toolkit's Issues

GUI sliders = memory leak ?

Everytime I move the sliders in the SVG tool GUI, the framerate drops by half..

Anyone had the same experience ? Any idea how to fix this ?

Files missing

hey guys,

seems to be very interesting, but i can't run it, because some files are missing in the repo:
SVG.v4p & GUI.v4p

thx

SVG parser

When I started this tool, I made my own svg parser.
It's incomplete, and only extracts and displays a limited number of objects types (doesn't do paths correctly).

There's now a new svg parser within v4, but it seems a bit slower, and I had a problem with paths resolution (a low smoothing value would make blocky paths, a high smoothing value would be too slow and crash.)
I started playing around with both parsers, you can find these in the sandbox.

Now I'm wondering which way to go. New parser, with no smoothing but bezier lines instead ?
Any input welcome, this would allow so many more animation types...
