thyme's Issues

Ctrl-R's

Hi Joao,

Thanks for the simple timer. It is really exactly what I need to time my work. As a programmer, though, I need my ctrl-R's for the bash terminal. I created a branch with the hotkeys disabled if you'd like to include it as a separate branch.

Colin

Add ability to discard idle time

Sometimes when you go away from your computer to make a coffee, there is always a colleаgue on the kitchen who is very happy to tell you the joke of the year. Often it takes more than 5 minutes, or even more. Depends on his memory. I'd be very thankful if you add the ability to discard the time while computer was inactive if it longs more than 3-5 minutes. Smth like "We found out that your computer was inactive for about 5 minutes. Do you want to discard the time?" And the answers are: "Yes", "No". Or maybe u'll discover a better solution while working on it. Thanks in advance!

Feature Request: Parse JSON files with gpt

This is as much a note to myself as anything else. I'm planning to send all my saved json files to gpt and ask it to generate a report from it for me.

Opening an issue here so if anyone else is planning on doing this they can share their results here.

Add retina menubar icon

You could also make the menubar icon vector based.
I tried replacing the existing icon with a 32x32 icon, but it didn't work.

Show time paused

I love thyme by the way.

My only gripe is that I sometimes pause for a break and forget to restart when I return. Is there currently any way of accessing the time at which Thyme was paused, or equivalently how long it's been paused for?

Stop working in El Capitan

Hi
I try to launch the app but nothing. Did you update already to El Capitan? Have you the same issue?
I get this message in the console:

05/10/2015 06:35:52,517 com.apple.kextd[44]: Untrusted kexts are not allowed
05/10/2015 06:35:52,517 com.apple.kextd[44]: ERROR: invalid signature for com.taoeffect.ispy.kext, will not load
05/10/2015 06:35:52,000 kernel[0]: Kext com.taoeffect.ispy.kext not found for unload request.

Thanks

It should be possible to clear the keyboard shortcuts

From Andreas Schulz:

My scenario was: I actually wanted to measure my worktime and accidentally hit one of the configured shortcut keys and the time stopped unnoticed. BAM ... so I tried to switch off this feature, but actually this isn't supported by your app. So my suggestion would be to support either a little checkbox, where someone like me, can deactive the shortcuts at all or even better, enable to empty the shortcut field somehow, so in case it's empty, no shortcut is actively used in that case. Pause/resume on sleep/wake-up

Via email:

Hello,

Thank you for making Thyme available. I use it to track time spent on work projects while at home.

If it's not too difficult, could you make the timer pause when I close the lid on my laptop, and resume when I reopen it? That would be excellent.

Thanks,
Dennis

not working on 10.6.8 32bits

Hi,
project looks great, I tried on an old laptop 10.6.8 32bits but it says not supported. Maybe put down a list of supported OSX on the homapage :)

Cheers

Hotkey for "Finish"?

I use Thyme as a stopwatch for short repetitive tasks and it is perfect except that I can't reset it to 0 from the keyboard. I pulled the code thinking it might be an easy change to code myself with no experience in osx development, but that sure isn't the case.

Thanks for your consideration =)

Add a project name to timer

First of all, I love the simplicity of this app, really useful. However, it would be even better if you could type a project name each time you start the timer, this way you would know which project you worked on that day. Its kind of hard to remember what you worked on and when throughout the day, especially if you are working on 5-6 different jobs a day.

Thyme, restart timer on login . Option request.

Hi, I know you are not working on this project anymore, but, it would be great to add feature to restart timer every time you login to your mac.

It is great feature when you need to track your time sitting in front of your mac. You can see on timer, if time goes above 50min - you should make some movement)

I am sure it's not a big deal to add such option, so, I hope someone will add it.

Sign software for OS X

My work computer is provisioned to disallow OS X software from unidentified developers. Could you get Thyme officially signed? It's pretty easy, as far as I know.

Thanks for your work! I love using Thyme on my personal computer.

Keyboard shortcuts in menu bar dropdown don't show function keys

Very minor cosmetic bug. Screenshot attached. The actual configured keyboard shortcut is cmd+shift+F8. My mac is configured to prioritize the secondary functions of the function keys (media controls, backlight, etc) first, so in this instance I'm also holding the fn key. I love this app!!! Thank you!!!!

Project owner

Hi! I am a long-time user and fan of Thyme. Would be happy to take over as project owner if you are still looking for one

Open at login

Besides that @zvaehn added already some nice preferences in the open Pull request I'd suggest to add a checkbox that says "Open at login" and that – of course – opens Thyme automatically when you log in to the computer.

Feature request: timer alert functionality + notification sound + snooze

Currently thyme only provides a stopwatch functionality, but there is no way to set a configurable timer alert e.g. for 5 minutes, i.e. the classic "Tea" or "Nap" functionality.

Feature Proposal

  • Add a new menu option Alert which will have a submenu with preset alert timeouts, i.e.: 1min, 2min, 3min, 5min, 10min, 20min, 30min, 1hour.

thyme-alerts

Once the alert time elapses a notification popup box appears, with an optional sound configured in the alert settings. The alert would contain buttons to snooze or discard. Snooze duration can be configurable from the popup, and if the value is not explicitly set for e.g. 10 seconds, then the default snooze duration will be used (configured in the alert preset). (Just for reference, similar functionality is implemented in the android app called alarm clock plus which I found to be very handy).

Each alert preset will be configurable, i.e. it should be possible to add/remove/edit them, set a per-alert notification sound, as well as snooze duration. Saving an alert preset as default for new presets would also be handy.

find Thyme via Spotlight search `stop watch`

It would be very useful to make Thyme findable via the Spotlight search stop watch(or stopwatch). This way, you don't have to remember the app's name.

However, I don't know if that's possible..

Order previous timings by date/time

The previous timings shown in the task icon menu don't seem to be ordered in a reasonable way. It would make sense to order them by date and time.

Tagging and exporting time entries

Fantastic work with thyme!

Would it be possible to tag a time entry after its completed, and possibly export it? I'd love to have a logfile of what I've done for the day, which I can then turn into time sheets for billing.

Many menubar items - buries Thyme icon

I'm sometimes using Thyme (for which, thanks!) to time how long it takes to read aloud through a manuscript. The pause/resume function is vital. But I use LibreOffice on a little MacBook, and the menubar looks like this:

LibO Menubar

Of course, it is actually there, as one can see using an application which takes up less space on the menubar:

LibO Menubar

Would it be possible to have a option for using Thyme in its own window? or some other means of ensuring its icon remains accessible, no matter what else is happening on the menubar? I don't know what the possibilities might be...

Thanks!

Update And of course, I had a "Doh!" moment: I can, of course, assign hotkeys. 😁 There could still be times when it would be good to have the timer itself visible, though, so the "issue" (enhancement request?) still might have some value.

Thyme 0.4.1 does not start on Lion

Click on the Application from the application folder and nothing happens.
Ran from the command line /Applications/Thyme.app/Contents/MacOs/Thyme

Away timer

In keeping with the simplicity of this app and focus on tracking time, many timer apps have a simple optional functionality that detect when your system is idle via mouse and keyboard and ask you when you return if you'd like to count the intervening time toward your timer or ignore it and start back up.

Such a system would likely have configurable idle timeout with 5mins default.

In pop-up show upcoming breaks

When you get the pop-up counting down the duration of the current (micro) break, it'd be nice if it also showed when the other breaks are due (e.g., 10 minutes to Hourly break).

Pause on sleep resumes even if not paused

Steps to reproduce:

  1. have "pause on sleep" enabled
  2. Start task, and Finish task.
  3. Put mac to sleep
  4. Wake mac up.

Expected result: nothing.
Actual result: time start new task (from 00:00).

Probably related to this commit.

Auto start thyme on login

Now every time I log in I need to start thyme, could you add into the preference panel an option for auto start like dropbox?
Thank you

New logo

Here is a proposition for a new logo. I just added to the current logo 3 buttons on the top. The point is to make it looks more like a mix of a chronometer and a clock (and less like the apple's analogic date & time icon on the top bar).

Add timer functionality

First of all, thanks for the such a great app! Is it possible to add timer functionality?

ShortcutRecorder/ShortcutRecorder.h file not found

  1. Love this app. Works great. Great job.
  2. I want to try my hand at the source code a bit but after downloading and trying to build got 'ShortcutRecorder/ShortcutRecorder.h file not found' error from xCode. Am I missing an obvious step here?

Simple note for your current task

Hi! :-)
Great timer! :-) It'd be very cool if there were a possibility to input very simple label (and preference with ability to disable this functionality) of current task.

Case:
<cmd + alt + t> - "Landing page"

Switch "Restart" and "Finish" locations

I've been an avid user of Thyme for my freelance work nearly daily for a year now. More than once, I've smashed "Restart" instead of "Continue". This is a tragedy because it completely removes the time and the history of my time is not saved in the nifty little recent history area.

image

Would you be open to a PR where we change the location of these options so that smashing the wrong button is not as much of a hazard @joaomoreno ?

Adjust current timer

Sometimes I forget to stop the timer and it is too hard to keep track of time with adjustments in mind.

Would be nice to be able to simply modify timer value and continue running it.

request: dont lose time across restarts/crashes

most modern OSX apps now save their state when Quit, and resume when launched.
would be great if Thyme could do this also. even better if it can survive an OS lockup/hard-restart (i.e. periodically saving the counter; vs just save on Quit)
