Directly using ctx:reference-query(?, ?) with null values from a nullable reference results in a query that won't match any fragments. Update to use cts:not-query(ctx:reference-query(?)).

Do you support any processing with cts:point ?

Currently each reference is serialized for each tuple returned. That's fine for limited result-sets, but imposes quite a burden as the results get larger. Explore strategies for memoizing the parsed references (will likely require changes in cts-extensions).

When calling function it throws error because it does not have the namespace references
The simple fix is to get namespaces and use xdmp:with-namespaces to resolve references. The fix is posted here:
