It is a negative change, read value - previous value >>> 009.11 - 999.93 = -990,82
you have to set Previous Value manually
Prevalue

Yes I've done that, but shouldn't it be possible to do it automatically? Or do i just allow negative values to achieve that?

As far as I know, nothing like this has been implemented yet, since most counters have 5 digits and it takes tens of years for a counter to overflow^^
just allow negative values to activate won't be enough, you'll have to set MaxRateValue to 999 and MaxRateType to RelativeRate, through this that many of the calculations/Security features are no longer carried out.

It would be good if that can be improved. Even with 5 digits it's going to overflow at some point, many of these meters are very old. I can't use the rest of the digits without spending ages on 3d printing/mirrors etc. to move the camera further away. Fyi, the home assistant sensor that gets created from the MQTT message has no problems with the data rotating through 0.
