Bug in the current version of the CL to SPIR compiler generates these instructions, so need to retain support for this instruction for the time being. Will remove when compiler bug is fixed.

Might be worth leaving it in anyway; other compute APIs (like RSCompute, HSA and CUDA) may use llvm-intermediate in their internal representation.
A bit of a long shot, but it's possible that someone might be interested in creating a driver interface for such APIs and use OCLGrind's core with them.
Besides, supporting the instruction doesn't actually cause problems anyway regardless if it is supported by SPIR or not.

I agree - and there's a good chance this instruction may be allowed in future versions of SPIR too.
